When people in Canada commit the crimes mentioned above, there is punishment if
we can catch the person who did it. In this country it doesn't always happen because
the society believes, it is better to have nine guilty people go free than to imprison one
innocent person wrongfully convicted. In China they have a black and white system
that does not lend itself to individual cases of right and wrong. The democracy movement
is a prime example. In the west we may break up demonstrations, but with water cannons
and so on. In China they killed hundreds in brutal suppression tactics. This is also a
lesson for people in this country. We sometimes howl like hell and demand something be
done about protesters and demonstrators who block roads etcetera.
It is far better to let civil disobedience play out and deal with it in the courts later than to kill
people in the streets. There in lies a difference with China and the West. Some day I
hope this will change. In my opinion China does not have a Communist Government at all
they have a Fascist Government, that replaced the isolationist communists long ago.

The examples you provided in this thread constituted nothing more than Canada-bashing. While they are bad incidents, the government had nothing to do with it. In the OP, the government had everything to do with the horrifying time the family went through.

I will admit that I bash China from time to time, but only deservedly so. Forcing abortions, especially ones at the 8 month term, is despicable.

Then there are the four RCMP,s who murdered the Polish immigrant in Van. airport ;where they ever convicted of the crime they have committed ?--from what I've heard on of them (while intoxicated) killed again , and the other member of the magnificent four- got promoted.
And then there is Col.Williams the head of the largest air force base in Canada who was just sentenced to two life terms for murdering two innocent women .
What do the above cases have in common ? All of these murderers above were work/ing to protect Canada and provide security to its citizens..........

Believe it or not China, many Canadians were disgusted with what happened to Dziekanski. That is neither here nor there when we're discussing a barbaric policy that says the government can come into your home, take you away, and inject drugs into a woman's body to kill the child she bares.

This litmus test that you consistently raise in regard to any ills perpetrated by the Chinese Communist government is a farce.

How can you be a force for good in this world if you're not even a force for good with your own citizens? I don't particularly see the point in defending a bully because there are bullies elsewhere. It's unethical...

BEIJING, China - A pregnant woman in south China was detained, beaten and forced to have an abortion just a month before her due date because the baby would have violated the country's one-child limit, her husband said Thursday.
Construction worker Luo Yanquan said his wife was taken kicking and screaming from their home by more than a dozen people on Oct. 10 and detained in a clinic for three days by family planning officials, then taken to a hospital and injected with a drug that killed her baby.
Family planning officials told the couple they weren't allowed to have the child because they already have a 9-year-old daughter, Luo said.

There are always people trying bypass the law of the land. Laws have been enacted for a reason, in China or in the United States, for that matter. It is easy for an outsider to criticise. Personally, I think there are enough Chinese spilling out of China, like a cup overflowed, so I am not going to bleed for one lost. Too bad for the fetus, it would have deserved smarter parents.

The Chinese police and military kill 1,000 peaceful protesters at Tianamen Square, using tanks and rifles.....to the sung praise of all allowed to speak in the country.....additional protesters are murdered (executed) afterward.

Colonel Williams murders two women.....is arrested, tried, goes to prison for life.

The Chinese gov't murders 35,000 Falun Gong, ripping out their organs for sale. Nobody is arrested.

Canada mistakenly convicts a man for murder in a fair trial.......because of the misdeeds of a pathologist. The man is released, apologized to, paid 4.5 million bucks in compensation....


China falsely convicts....how many???? There is no such thing as a fair trial, questioning the competency of a gov't official is out of the question, and those convicted of serious crimes are shot in the head. Gee, how wonderful there have been no wrongfull conviction compensations paid!

Weak kneed following of :THE LAW" Lemming like - Speaks in private that something is wrong - but would not raise a peep if done around him. There must be a term for that - One that is not pretty.
