This is old but it is well known FOX invented trash news and no where do they claim their news to be truthful.

Status-quo media. It's ironic if you look at the demographics now, the prime advertising demographic is not a network news watcher. Fox News viewers have a median age of 65. Bill O'Reilly's viewers are closer to 70!

So, they continue to protect corporate interests, and they continue to lose the primary market demographic to the internet.

Pretty much.

I get most of my news from news aggregators (including posters on forums like this), than I do from primary sources. It's more diverse.

Still, there are some in this forum who regard everything they see on FOX as the Gospel truth, absolute truth, and disbelieve anybody and anything that disagrees with FOX.

In my opinion, FOX isn't any more credible than the Enquirer. It is a waste fo time to listen to FOX. There are many reputable, reliable sources of news, such as CNN.

The left wingnuts have their own drivel news as well. Never seen a televised one other than CBC which isn't so much left as Torontoist. but they do have Tyee News that is about on par with National Enquirer for accuracy.

When even some wise Republicans don't trust Fox, it's pretty bad.

I find CBC a pretty reliable news source. But so are most national newspapers (Globe and Mail, Star, Post). While the newspapers may have different political biases, they are pretty accurate when it comes to news reporting.

They are starting FOX News North (started by a few of the Harper cronies), here in Canada. You may be sure that will be non stop propaganda for Harper and the Conservative Party. I heard they are going to name Harper the man of the year for 2010 and for 2011, to start with.

Yes, and Fox News had reporters that were objective and reliable. Look what happened Jack...are you saying it's OK because other journalists are not objective? How is that fair and balanced? If they all do it, it's not really balanced. If they pull factual stories because it's inconvenient for their advertisements, that's not fair to the audience.

Don't shill for the unscrupulous Jack. It's a poor reflection.

Mainstream "news" is a joke. Best to get news from a variety of sources and cross-reference.

Jack, this isn't about left or right....if you weren't so myopic you'd see that the topic of this thread has to do with corporate influence on what is reportable as news...not the narrow and absurd argument of left-media, right-media. Both left and right media produce news with perspectives, and perspectives aren't wrong, there just perspectives. But changing the factual results, because of threats from lawyers? I mean how do you feel about BP preventing press and others from taking photos on public beaches? That is corporate control of the news.

Is that kosher?

Tonnington, I am not so myopic as to categorically reject and call any news source with whose editorial stance I might disagree with as unreliable. It takes a certifiable fool to do that.

I regularly watch the most biased and fate-filled MSNBC. I read almost every day on-line articles in MSM publications. Sometimes it is only good for a deep sigh or a laugh, But I most definitely would not dismiss them.

I also find that it is much easier to watch news where the anchors are personable.

Some here would dismiss FOX and would praise CNN (or MSNBC) if they all presented, verbatim, news items dispatched from Reuters or AP.

There is no accounting for cement-headed ignorance.
