Vasectomy is covered. I can't remember the last time a gal had one.

All kinds of services are covered, which are utilized by only a small segment of the population. Breast cancer, prostrate cancer, well baby care, vaccinations etc. There are very few services that are utilized by most of the population. They are paid for anyway. Abortion is no different.

PSA test was NOT covered in Ontario while I lived there, maybe it is now.

While I paid however small amount of money out of my own pocket for years, sex-crazy ****s were getting a free ride any number of times, getting abortions, that could have been prevented by either absention, or with using prevention, i.e. just a small portion of their brains.

I think they started covering it two years ago. It is covered under some conditions, not covered universally.

PSA test was NOT covered in Ontario while I lived there, maybe it is now.

Lung cancer could have been prevented by not smoking. Then should the smokers not be covered for lung cancer?

Stomach ulcer could have been prevented by not eating hot, spicy foods. Should the doctor then carry out an investigation each time and if it turns out that hot, spicy foods were indeed responsible for the ulcer, government should not pay for it?

There are numerous diseases caused by obesity. Should obese people not be covered for those diseases?

What you are saying does not make any kind of sense.

The problem comes with poor women, somebody who cannot afford abortions. Abortion is a medical service and as such is covered by Canada health Act.

I assume if there is a rethink of Canada Health Act due to rising costs and everything is on the table, abortion may also be reconsidered and perhaps paid for based upon income.

PSA is NOT covered in Ontario unless one is high risk.

There is no reason why they cannot implant a valve in the vas deferens tube of every boy just before puberty. Installed turned off and easily opened when they feel ready to have a family. Personally, I think they should have to go before a panel of nine women and prove their maturity in order to have the tap turned back on.

GST promise was a cynical promise made to attract votes (I don't think Chretien had any intention of keeping it), politicians of all stripes do that. As to free trade, Chretien simply said that he will renegotiate, he never claimed that he will get rid of NAFTA. He tried to renegotiate, USA told him to take a hike, and that was that.

But all politicians break the campaign promises, what is so surprising about that? Are you saying that Conservatives haven't broken any campaign promises?

I don’t think experts agree with you about that. Ultrasonic images tend to be fuzzy and may be interpreted in many different ways.

My wife is a short woman, our son was a big fetus. He used to kick so hard that we could actually see my wife's stomach move.

Cliffy and Sir Joseph Thanks for your responses.I believe the possibility lies within what mankind/science/medicine already have at their fingertips regarding some kind of physical intervention on a temporary (or permanent if that is the case) basis.When the idea is stacked up with the usual argument of abortion equates with murder, but rapists enjoy creating life, etc. etc. - it's worth exploration don't ya think?
We can send craft/humans into space......I believe mankind has all kinds of power if he/she would use it.
I hold a firm belief every life born into this world should be wanted, loved, and cared for until able to self-sustain. It would be a wonderful world and we would stop arguing about abortion as if we were gods (or frightened people).

Remembering to take the pill isn't always easy for some people.

Yes, in an ideal world, there would be no abortions. But we do not live in an ideal world.

Thanks TenPenny I wasn't speaking of birth control - I was suggesting something far more in depth - that of medical prevention of becoming a parent - both male and female. There are many things which happen regardless of birth control - or none - rape occurs, illness prevents contraception temporarily or permanently if desired, or some people don't want to use birth control - there are too many variables and what I am suggesting is an intervention to prevent conception.
I am also stating this should be for both males and females so equality reigns supreme and choice to have a child then becomes important and valuable as it should always be in our civilization. I can't imagine how awful it must be for some people to resent the oncoming birth of a new life because it wasunexpected or unwanted.
I would prefer to see abortions thrown into the outmoded medical files where they belong. They are a desperate solution when there could be intelligent planning and expectation.
