Update: 34 states and the District of Columbia saw their unemployment rates go down in April. Six states saw their rates go up, and 10 states had unchanged rates.
This is a significant improvement from the previous month which saw 16 states and D.C. with unemployment rates that went down, 22 states with rates that went up, and 12 with no change.

1.6 Million were hired as census takers and seasonal agriculture giving malarky job stats but there are still more than 30 Million taking food stamps and 16% unemployment.
Exactly... the little bump in employment recently was due to temp work and the census jobs.
To follow your logic, the good numbers represent an improvement in the numbers of people who are actually eating.
They are eating other people, figuratively, for now at least. I meant to say that your numbers are cooked until they are soft and palatable. Take them with sugar and the medicine goes down.
Talking about state unemployment rates, and whether they're going up or down, is wearing blinders? Really? I ask because these rates are more important than the initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI), the "jobs reports" from yesterday that you are apparently talking about.
Some background: The US Labor Department reported yesterday that initial UI claims jumped by 25,000 for the week.

Unemployment rates are completely different stats from UI claims, as explained on BLS's FAQ page.

Not that the initial claims for UI statistic isn't important in its own right, but the unemployment rates that I'm talking about measure unemployment more directly, and right now, those rates are going down in most states.

The only hiring increase has been by the Federal Government, in primarily temporary jobs. The author of this bull manure must be a real advocate for the propaganda machine.
