Update: 34 states and the District of Columbia saw their unemployment rates go down in April. Six states saw their rates go up, and 10 states had unchanged rates.
This is a significant improvement from the previous month which saw 16 states and D.C. with unemployment rates that went down, 22 states with rates that went up, and 12 with no change.

jobless claims are up because people are now trying to get the new jobs that are being created
