Is Obama the worst president ever?

They said that about Harry Truman also. He turned out ok in the history books.

So let me get this straight. According to you, Bush will turn out to be OK in history books, in spite of pointless invasion of Iraq and untold number of deaths as a result of it. Also, in spite of being responsible for two huge economic meltdowns, the recent one the worst meltdown since the Depression.

Obama however, being in the office a little over a year, not having started any war, slowly cleaning up the gigantic mess left by Bush and the Republicans, is already the worst president ever, and nothing he does in the next six years will change that assessment.

Are you a presidential historian? You must be to issue such definitive, authoritative assessment.

SirJosephPorter, in your post #138 you paint Republican Presidents purely based on your own hypothetical assumptions.

Did you forget that it was a Democratic President that ordered the carpet-bombing of Dresden and Leipzig? Or that it was a Democratic President who dropped atomic bomb on Japan not once, but twice?

Did you forget that the decency of Carter resulted in the rise of Islamic Terrorism, the current threat of Iran using nuclear weapons on the Middle East?

Did you forget that it was a Republican President whose policies helped to destroy the most evil regime vin the history of mankind, the Soviet Union, all without firing a single shot or dropping a single bomb?

And what has that go to do with anything? Are you saying that it was wrong to do any of those things?

Did you forget that the decency of Carter resulted in the rise of Islamic Terrorism, the current threat of Iran using nuclear weapons on the Middle East?

If Carter had carpet bombed Iran (as a Republican would have done), the problem of terrorism would be several times worse than it is today. While a significant minority of Muslims do support terrorism, the majority of Muslims are opposed to terrorism. If Carter had carpet bombed Iran resulting in thousands of deaths (and thereby assuring him the reelection), the majority of Muslims would very likely support terrorism today.

Did you forget that it was a Republican President whose policies helped to destroy the most evil regime vin the history of mankind, the Soviet Union, all without firing a single shot or dropping a single bomb?

That is a matter of opinion, YJ. Most historians give the credit for dismantling of USSR to Gorbachev, not to Reagan.

Hey Yukon- Truman did the right thing in bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Japs used very cruel torture techniques during the war and had lots of time to surrender, but chose not to, so they got what they deserved (apart from the innocent victims) However he put a sudden end to the War and prevented any further innocents being victimized. Doing the sensible thing has nothing to do with being Democrat or Republican. You and your sparring partner should get this nonsense out of your heads.

SirJosephPorter puked thus:

"I se, but you have no problem claiming attention for your charitable work here on internet, where anybody could lie about anything, there is no way of verifying any statement anybody makes here about themselves."

SirJosephPorter, let me propose something to you: You and I will present our respective PROVABLE credentials regarding charitable works via a personal mail to any of the moderators. Under the rules of anonimity, our real identities can be safe, but our accomplishments in helping others can be compared.

Are you game? Or are just a socialist windbag who is only generous with the money and/or efforts of others?

the health care reforms is not gonna work at all my friend.
its just gonna take more money from us the citizens that pay taxes and It shows that the reforms won't fundamentally change the runaway pace of US health spending including both public and private-sector dollars. With or without reform, the overall US medical bill will account for about 21 percent of gross domestic product in 2019, or 3 percentage points higher than today, according to a recent analysis done within the Health and Human Services Department. so this is just a wack reform thats just gonna hurt our country BAD!
Do you think that perhaps is Americans looked after their health just a little bit they wouldn't have this huge health bill. Nobody has to have the huge amount of garbage that passes off as fast food, and those that do eat that junk are the primary cause of the medical costs running wild. If the money that is wasted in places like Rotten Ronnies was spent on health care instead there would probably be no need to tax workers for health care.
The other causes of runaway health care costs is the influence big pharma has on medicine. They are not interested in curing ailments, but maintaining patients to further their bottom line. Then there is the idea of entitlement to all available tests and treatments, no matter the cost so of course the ones that make money off these treatments jack up the price just like the stock market. Somehow our society has bought into the idea that we are entitled to live forever without looking after our bodies.

Bingo, our entire society has been brain washed with this "drugstore mentality" that is running rampant today. "Do your own thing" until you puke your guts out and there's a remedy - for a price.

But it's a safe bet....that the glove will never be picked up;-)

I wouldn't share those details of my life on the web. I'm reasonably sure that Ron et al. aren't untrustworthy, but it's still a risk to trust personal details to the open web tubes...

What harm could evolve from those "details"? I don't care if the world knows what a great philantripist I am- contributing $2 to the Salvation Army Kettle every Xmas.

If I had any reason to be ashamed or embarrassed about my charitable works, I would feel the same way.

It's cavalier attitudes like that which expose people to risk. Maybe you're not aware of what can happen with identity theft and other crimes of that nature...

I doubt if anyone in his right mind is going to try to steal my identity- the best it could probably get them is a bunch of bills..........................:lol::lol::lol::lol:
