Northern Ontario,
Yeah, I read where Gerry likes to disobey one of the commandments in a huge way. Or at least attach his own quirky twist to it.
Karrie just thinks without accepting the dogma at face value like a good little robot would. She definitely has her own mind. Gerry, not so much.
Hmmm......And I thought that judging other people was reserved to Religious right bible thumpers..........

Northern Ontario,
I really think that atheists need to chill out......they take their "non-belief" way to seriously...

What is the worst that can happen....If they're right.....we both end up in the same place....oblivion....

But should they happen to be wrong.........

Why would you think that? Have I ever claimed to not judge people? No. I can't be called a hypocrite for that. Yet Christians judge lots in spite of the fact that the Bible says "Judge not lest ye not be judged."

Actually, I will stand by my first answer. No ifs, ands, maybes, or buts, Christians do not have freedom of thought. All their thoughts are presided over either consciously or sub-consciously by their faith. That is limiting. And mind you, I am referring to real Christians, not the ones who only call themselves Christians.

Sorry, I just looked in my Bible: it says, " Judge not, that ye be not judged". I mixed the words up.
Oh, and my version says it is the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (1965).

Either way, Christians aren't supposed to judge according to their own book yet they do anyway. There's nothing anytwhere saying that we agnostics and atheists like my hubby aren't supposed to judge.

Matt. 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."

This is the verse so many use to try to shame Christians for discerning poor behavior, ethics, morals, and values: the "judge not lest ye be judged" verse.

Should they happen to be wrong, we are all doomed, unless you happen to believe in the only true God, one of several thousand worshiped on earth. Since we have no way of knowing which is the true God, it is purely a crap shoot.

Funny how people oppose religion and propose no alternative other than a delusional hippie inspired 'just love everyone, man' mantra to live their lives by, or 'people are just natuarully 'good' and will grow up just fine without and moral teachings'.

And why does one have to propose an alternative? Simply to say that religion is wrong is enough, the alternative is no God.

Do some research and you will find large studies have been done looking at 100's thousands of people raised with and without religion. Guess what the results are? Don't know? Don't want to know? In a nutshell the religious people are more sane, less suicidal, less liekly to go to jail, have better paying jobs and even better sex lives. Go on bashing all you like, the results speak for themselves, please do us all a favor and propose an alternative or stop your whining...or show me some research proving non-religious people do better in society, then I'll join your 'anti religious religon'.
Really? Can you quote even one study here, give a link to it? I seriously doubt that any such study exists. The studies I have seen indicate that Atheists are more educated and earn more than non Atheists.

Here is one link which says that Atheists are more educated and earn more than religious people.

Now let us see a link from you.

Folks can find justification anywhere they assume they want it to be. That's the one downfall of athiesm. You're pretty much on your own if you ever need a paper trail....

When you say,:I am referring to real Christians, not the ones who only call themselves Christians.", just what do you consider a 'real' Christian?
I'm not a Christian, but my family for the most part were and are. My mother is a Christian and lives her life by Christian principles - not Christian dogma. My grandfather was a deeply devote man who was also a scholar. Again, he lived his life by Christian principles - not Christian dogma.Yes, his life was in a sense governed by his faith but it certainly never stifled him.
It's not religion (be it Christianity or Judaism)that limits thought and creativity, it's the dogma - the human interpretation that arises from religion.
Think about it, Copernicus and Galileo were Cristian. Sir Francis Bacon was Christian. Rene Descartes was a devote Roman Catholic.I remember in school studying about Gregor Mendel - he was a MONK for pete's sake but he was probably the first modern geneticist!and then Einstein was not a practicing Jew, but he said, "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."
Look, I'm not blind to the narrow mindedness and narrow focus of many religious people - but that's how they choose to interpret the Bible - and how much they choose to take from Church Fathers such as Paul and, Augustine The early Christian Church was very accepting of women - a good reference on this is 'When women Were Priests' by Karen Jo Torjesen. Blows the lid on the whole anti-female-priest train of thought.

It is much easier to bash Christianity, or any other religion, if you stick everyone into one small narrow box.
