lol I agree. And perhaps a good booster for the need for contraceptive devices.

AHAH! Progress. A while back you stated that life didn't begin at conception. So you finally clued in. YAY!!

Yep, there's hope yet, he's moving in the right direction- First it was fetuses are not life, then it was "we" don't know if fetuses are life and now he's admitting they are life.:lol::lol: Guess he finally has us figured for an I.Q. of at least 10 instead of 5.:lol:

YOu're dumber than a sack of hammers. Let's just say it's someone's dog, so there is no reason not to kill it????????????????????????? You're about as "thick" as they come.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Well JLM, I take my lessons on dumbness from the master himself, that is you. No matter how I try I couldn’t equal you in dumbness, in sheer partisanship, in adulating the conservative ideology, in hating liberalism, hating liberals.

Who said anything about killing anybody’s dog? I said you are the master of stupidity (or dumbness). You are surpassing yourself today.

IQ of 10? You flatter me, JLM. Any figure more than zero coming from a hatemonger like you is a high compliment indeed. Believe me, when somebody hates liberals with a passion, hates me with a passion, giving me an IQ of 10 is high praise indeed. So thank you.

Indeed, it took me until now to realize how much you hate me. You have joined the hate SJP club here (which I prefer to refer to as my fan club, there are a few life members). So I look at all your comments from the point of view of a hatemonger. And a hatemonger giving me an IQ of 10 is high compliment indeed.

Anyway you are on my ignore list as of now. I have better things to do that waste my time with a hatemonger. So carry on with your hate, from now on I won't even see your posts.

Oh, and welcome to SJP fan club.

No S.J. - I don't hate you. I just get tired of the same garbage being slung at me day after day. I get so tired of the same garbage about politics and religion. I get so tired of everything being either black or white- Bush could do no right, Obama can do no wrong, Liberals can do no wrong, Conservatives stand for everything bad. The world is nothing like you portray it. Everyone is a mixture of good and bad, politics is a mixture of bad and not quite as bad. 99% of what most people do in their lives is done without thought of either politics or religion. I find it very annoying when you keep changing your mind to win your argument. You not on here to exchance opinions, and possibly change your own or to learn from other people, just to ram your own beliefs down everyone's throat. NO, I don't hate you S.J. - just feel very sorry for what must be a very lonely individual.

Of course, how stupid of me. Comparing a sperm cell, with only half the number of chromosomes required to grow into a baby, with a fetus is a reasonable comparison.
I guess the confusion stems from the fact I stilll think of it as life.

Perceptions.

Canada Stands Alone On Anti-abortion

http://www.torontosun.com/news/canada/2010/03/30/13411076.html

After the hissy-fits of the Conservative MPs at airports Canada got to watch a hissy-fit from the iron lady herself U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton

"You can not have maternal health without reproductive health," Clinton said during a news conference with G8 foreign ministers. "And reproductive health includes contraception, and family planning and access to legal, safe abortion."

I always thought family planning was to prevent a pregnancy.

Abortion has nothing to do with reproductive health in fact it can damage reproductive health.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is clearly showing that she is a loose cannon and a liability to the Democrats and she should be put into a less public role but I can’t really say that because I am not American but she has to respect the Canadian point of view that abortion is a contentious issue like it is in America.

Canada has a government that ran on and anti-abortion and anti-gay rights platform and won a minority government.

The Conservative base is the bible belt of the prairies including the Christian right Albertans.

Stephen Harper is the David who is protecting the Canadian fetuses from the international Goliaths that just want to kill babies and feel good about it.

This is a misleading headline. Who opposes Canada? Some names please.

The Conservative government yesterday remebered one of their promises about abortions and now they will remind the G8 that Canada will not fund abotions in developing countries.

Not that the star is an objective news source......but I guess you missed this...

But Dimitri Soudas, spokesperson for Prime Minister Stephen Harper, told reporters on Monday that the decision is in line with a recent vote in the House of Commons, when a majority of MPs voted against supporting abortion as part of Canada’s foreign-aid focus on maternal health.

It was a Liberal attempt to embarrass the Conservatives into supporting abortion, but it backfired when more than a dozen Liberal MPs were absent or opposed, and now seems to have paved the way for the extraordinary declaration by Harper’s government on Monday.

From your own article.

Given that we live in a democracy, I think it's pretty fair to say that when a vote is taken in the House, that the will of the people is being done. Especially when you see non partisan voting.

But hey, don't let that stand in the way or your ideology Liberaldud.

Harper has really exposed his true colors in this abortion argument. By now I don’t think there should be doubt in anybody’s mind that he is strongly prolife and will indeed try to ban abortion here in Canada if he gets the majority. He won’t succeed, of course. Majority of Canadians don’t want abortion banned. Then there are the courts, which will strike down any attempt by House of Commons to ban or restrict abortion.

But it will lead to prolonged, bitter, vitriolic debate in Canada, which may last for years and poison the whole political atmosphere in Canada. It is the ‘hidden agenda’ all over again.

I have said before this, it is difficult to say if Harper actually belongs to the far right or he just panders to the far right from time to time. From this episode, it is clear that Harper does indeed belong to the far right and if given the majority, will indeed try to implement the far right, Republican agenda in Canada (ban on abortions, ban on gay marriage, restricting availability of contraception, abstinence only sex education etc.).

It doesn't matter that the decision was reached by democratic vote. No, not at all.

Whether or not one supports abortion, Canada has a black mark on its history already regarding ending the pregnancies and even the fertility of people based on race. To get involved with going into foreign countries and and directly paying to fund abortions sounds like a BAD idea, especially if we can't directly oversee it according to our national standards.

Agreed, the thought of eugenics did cross my mind, but I wasn't willing to go that extra step just yet.

Since you're obviously braver then I am, I'll just follow you into the storm...

We could avoid all this controversy if we go out of the foreign aid business. Thinking our tax dollars are somehow going to be used for good in these countries and not ending up in some dictators pocket is optimistic at best.
