Are you sure none are performed or are you assuming -
Please provide some evidence that they are not performed outside of ones that are performed due to the health of the mother.
Last time I asked you this you stated Morgantaller was against it and you gave the impression that if a baby could survive - as in preemie - at 22 weeks - which has happened - you would be against late term abortions -
No I am not going thru reams of files to look for it - You have everything you post and that others post cross referenced to hell and back so I am sure you could locate it quite easily. Approx 1 or 1 1/2 years ago.
Now the question I asked was clear -
A perfectly healthy mother with a healthy baby - no genetic defects etc - No medical conditions threatening her life -a perfectly healthy baby - 27 weeks pregnant - goes to an abortion clinic and requests an abortion.Because -" she does not want to bear a child."
We cannot have a debate in this country because both ends of the spectrum accuse others of Hidden Agendas -
I believe late term abortion based upon the criteria I posed are an abomination - murder - to think otherwise defies any rights to a child - and any sense of humanity within ones self - a baby that can survive outside of the womb but will not due to a women's choice to abort a perfectly healthy child -
We have no law on late term abortions because Politicians play games and spread fear, hatred and division along with the special interest groups - those pro and con abortion.
You know that as well as I.
Yes, I did say that I am opposed to abortion beyond fetal viability stage (unless mother’s life or health is endangered) and I stand by it.
At the same time, there are very few such abortions taking place currently and I don’t see any point in looking for a solution where a problem doesn’t exist.
As to evidence that such abortions are not performed, how can one produce evidence like that? I remember reading that late term abortions are not performed except for serious reason. If you have any evidence that late term abortions are performed for frivolous reason, let us look at it.
I don’t know if you remember the Chantal Daigle case around early 90s, when courts had just struck down Canada’s abortion law. Daigle’s boyfriend went to court in Quebec and got an injunction against her about getting an abortion. The injunction was good only in Quebec.
She wanted to get an abortion anyway and legally she could get it anywhere outside Quebec. However, she could not find a doctor in Ontario who will perform the abortion (she was more than 24 weeks pregnant by that time). Finally she crossed over to Massachusetts and got her abortion. That of course nullified the court injunction.
At that time it was reported that not only Ontario, but in Canada it was impossible to get later term abortion, except for serious reasons.
That is the only evidence I can offer. But otherwise it is very difficult to prove a negative. If you have some evidence to the contrary, put it up and we will look at it.
