Abortion is a non-issue in this country, no party advocates making abortion illegal or even partially illegal and that's the way Canadians generally like it.

And at which abortion clinic in Canada does it happen, Goober? That is a red herring brought up by prolifers. In Canada, it is impossible to get late term abortion, without a risk to the life or health of the mother.
Abortion situation is working quite well in Canada. While Harper may become more popular in Alberta if he tries to ban abortion (as if he needs more popularity in Alberta), it would be committing political suicide in Ontario and Quebec (and perhaps even BC).
You're right, on all accounts here. The 27-week abortion for no reason is as elusive as Sasquatch. The conservatives have a bunch of hypothetical arguments that don't reflect reality.
It's up to the mother.Anna G
I pose a question for you -
A perfectly healthy mother with a healthy baby - no genetic defects etc -
No medical condidtions threatening her life -a peffectly healthy baby -
27 weeks pregnant - goes to an abortion clinic and requests an aborion.
Because -" she does not want to bear a child."
What is your opinion?
.... and that is one reason why a lot of people use abortion as a birth control method. "Oh, I'm pregnant. I should have used the pill or something. Oh, well. I just ditch it. It ain't like it's a life anyway".Abortion is a non-issue in this country, no party advocates making abortion illegal or even partially illegal and that's the way Canadians generally like it.
Anna GEven Morgentaller is against such late term abortions - The child is viable - It is murder in my opinion. It's up to the mother.
So? It's still up to the mother.Anna GEven Morgentaller is against such late term abortions - The child is viable - It is murder in my opinion.

That's not a suspicion, it's a question.Oh, quite. But there is always the nagging suspicion. If Harper gets a majority, will he try to restrict or ban abortion? And episodes like this give credence to that suspicion.

No law against it - and we all know as time passes someone will try - Be refused - then sue for violation of their Charter Rights, Rights under Medi Care - Drs and Hospitials will be sued along with Govts. And guess what else she can sue for - Wrongful life - The courts all the way to the SCOC will rule in her favor due to the facts that we have no laws against late term abortions - You know it - i know it and Drs cannot hide behind their morals - If you perform abortions then what is the difference to the Dr at 12 weeks or 27 weeks -
And it is not a red herring - Legitimate question -
Wrong - Human Nature - someone will push it - whether to force the issue or to request an abortion
Same thing happened when that women booked a wedding reception at the Knights of Columbus - Then they told them it was for 2 women - K of C canceled = and the couple so piously stated that they would not sue - guess what - they did - sue that is - it was all for publicity -
You underestimate Human Nature and the realm of possibilities - You are thinking that no sane women would request an abortion at such a late date - But just as eating to many green apples will give you the runs - someone will try it. For what ever reason - may take 5 - 10 years but wait and see.
So you see no point in hypothetical situations. Then the simple solution to that is to stay out of them.It is a red herring, Goober. The problem is non existent at present, there are no frivolous late term abortions in Canada. The why create a problem, why start trouble when there isn’t one?
If at some stage late term abortions increase and doctors start performing them for any reason (or no reason at all), then we can address the problem. But at present the abortion situation is quite satisfactory, and I don’t see any point in opening up the incendiary debate of abortion.
And if a mother's life or health would be in question, you would not be opposed to banning late-term abortions? You are sick.I personally would be opposed to banning late term abortions, seeing that there aren’t any performed in Canada, except when mother’s life or health is in danger.
Then stay out of it. :roll:Indeed I am opposed to opening up the debate at this stage.
Only to a soulless ghoul racism is worse than abortion.
Let us stand alone ( if that were true)..and be Anti-Abortion/Pro Family then ..It's a good position to hold ....To force abortion on mothers of foreign 2nd/3rd world lands is nothing more than population control...
"I think we are all soulless, YJ. I don't believe in soul."
Could be, but abortion supporters ARE GHOULS.
