Sure I noticed that, but a Tory appointed judge is hardly likely to be liberal, or Liberal, is he now?

I saw a bus driver once and I'm sure he was a Liberal because he didn't have any patience when an old lady was slow to pay her fare.

Well actually, at the Provincial court level, yes, it would be equally likely for a judge appointed under a Tory regime to be liberal (small l) or conservative (small c).

It is normally only the Supreme Court appointments where the ideology of the appointees is taken much into consideration.

Is Mike Harris going to appoint a liberal judge? No way.

OK I'm confused here. There is a lot of fingerpointing at "Conservative hypocrisy" but didn't the case happen in Ontario, and thus under the watchful eye of the Liberal Ontario Attorney-General?

My opinion, whether he is a former Conservative MP or not, whether he's related to a cabinet minister or not, possession of coke and impaired driving are serious charges and in most cases should have been straightforward prosecutions. I'm with those who think if he was guilty and "got off" some how, someone's head should be on a block.

I saw a mom once who savagely beat her little girl in front of all the people in a supermarket. I am sure she was a conservative.

I hope you realize that, under current thinking, you are as much to blame as the mother, if you stood by and let it happen. I would hope that you personally intervened to stop her.

I forgot to mention that I helped the lady with her bus fare. What did you do in the supermarket?

Try as you might. By hook or crook, by lies or misquotations, by uppity and pretentious put-downs, SirJosephPorter will always have the last word.r

We are not assuming he is guilty, we just don't know. You can be sure if he had been an ordinary citizen rather than a Conservative MP, he would have been charged.
The second sentence sure sounds like a presumption of guilt.

Fact is, we don't know why the charges were dropped. I admit the news makes this look bad. But the news is often wrong.

Hey DS...it might make for a good thread. Kind of a "Who Can Bullsh!t Best?" thing. I feared my "colleague" was beginning to repeat himself a bit too much and was in danger of losing his listening audience, so I was just trying to help him keep the ratings up.

Is Mike Harris in power?

I must have slept really well last night.

And what has that got to do with anything? I am sure judges appointed by him are still on the bench.

US Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens was appointed by president Ford (remember him)? He is still on the bench. Then why is it so far fetched that Harris appointees are still serving in the courts?

A bystander is not responsible for such behavior, a bystander cannot be charged for not intervening. You are confusing it with professionals. Thus if a doctor comes across a child abuse case, he must report it by law. a Bystander has no such legal obligation.
