Naw, been here for years. But on my first trip waaaaay back when, I couldn't believe people would drive through the Fraser Canyon at night, in the rain and fog. I did, and I thought I was gonna' go over the edge and never be found.

Now I cringe when a see a flatlander licence plate coming up ahead - I immediately begin to figure out a strategy on where/when/how to pass before the next curve or "hill."

But I'm still nice to the prairie folks on the road...I figure the reason they slow down is to drink up all our natural beauty and spectacular views...can't blame them for that!

That's where you are totally wrong Cliff..

My kids are fully aware of my age and both are 1/3 my age.. I have never been ashamed of how old I am from younger people to older ones..

Too some people they think if other have no idea what age they are they can stay younger.. Too Funny..

72 years old in March. It sounds old to me but as everybody says, "you're only as old as you feel". Some mornings I'm ninety, some I'm thirty five....;-)

I'm just a few months younger than you juan, and don't feel
any older than I did at 40, others will think of us as old,
with some sympathy, but what do they know, till they get
here.
I remember when I was 40, 71 seemed very old,(my mother
was 72 when I was 40) but wiseness
comes with age, and at 40 I lacked the wiseness I hope I
have now.
I look after myself very wisely now, and it makes a big
difference, didn't have any time at all when I was 40,
with 4 daughters, I was on the run constantly, and my
total health is better now than it was then, although
I was not unhealthy then, just didn't eat nearly as well.

I will be 71 on March 4th, but Sulfasolozine, Bisoprolol, Arthrotec, Diltiazem, Hydroxyquine, Atacand and Crestor make me feel 21.

Thank God, I was never sufficiently politically correct to rely on so-called "natural" or "native" medicines.

Quite so, Francis, I share the sentiment. I have never understood why people want to hide their age, or try to act younger than they are.

I am 60 years old and in perfect health. Unlike YJ, I am fortunate in that I don’t have to take any medications (my wife does take blood pressure pills and arthritis medication). I have had a very successful life, any way one defines success. We are both working because we want to, not because we have to, we could have retired years ago.

But I have no illusions that I am young. While I can walk a 35 kilometer hike without any problem, I know that I am old, and I look forward to dying gracefully (and hopefully, peacefully) in 15 or 20 years, or when the time comes.

In fact, that is why we have been doing a fair bit of traveling, a fair bit of sightseeing for the past several years, after our son left home for the university. Who can tell what will happen tomorrow? I take each day as it comes.

Again, what does age have to do with when you will die ?

You can die 1 day after birth or at 60 years old you can live another 40 to 50 years..

What is the relative point to stating age and death ?

I thought that would be obvious, Francis. The older you are, the more you are likely to die, statistically.

How many 30 year old people die every year? How many 75 or 80 year old people die?

Perhaps and a point could be made for someone with cancer will more likely die sooner then someone without..

The thread is about age, not death..

Yes age is a factor but not the end all and not the point of this thread.. Certainly not the point I was making..

OK lets look at it this way.. My fathers retirement home is full of 80 to 95 year olds.. They are for the most part healthy and alive.. My Nephew lost a baby that was dead on the day it was born. This all true.. What was your point again ??

Age is only the reference date you were born on.. It has no other significance as far as affecting your life in any other way. It doesn't make you better in health or worse.. At 60 years of age you can be in great health or ill health.. You can live 1 extra day or an extra 40 more years..

I'm 40 and a proud grandmum. :D The way I feel about how I tick hasn't changed in 15 years, I don't think, though.
And who gives a crap about death? Quit fussing about it and deal with it when it happens. lol After all, you really have no choice.

How Old Are You? was the question.

"Old enough to know better, and young enough to do it again" is one answer that comes to mind.
