Oh Danny boy, your pipes, your pipes are clogging
From stem to stern, and down the legs both sides
Blood pressure’s up, cholesterol is building
'Tis you, 'tis you must go away stateside.
But come ye back when surgery’s over
Somewhere south, the wait list’s short
'Tis I'll be here in ER waiting room
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

Danny Williams, enjoy your speedy recovery in the US!

I was more than a little surprised to read this in the G&M this morning. Wonder how the folks back home are feeling about Danny running off to the good ole US of A for heart surgery.

I notice all you goomers are from upper Canada or west, how many of your premiers work for no pay ??I'm pretty sure Danny's paying for this himself so he can do what the hell he pleases.Show me another premier,of any stripe that has half the balls Mr Williams has !

Spoken like a true Nova Scotian.

Sometimes when you have a serious condition you get scared and when you are scared you don't like long waiting lists and when your procedure is postponed a couple of times you get frustrated.

and when that happens, go and have the procedure where
ever the heck you want, that is your preogative.
If you have the money to pay the bill, it is your business,
doesn't matter who you are.

That's the way I see it.

My, aren't we agreeable this morning. How'sit hangin' in the Okanagan this fine morning?

It's still pretty dark out here yet, Cliff, so I haven't been outside to check. I generally try to start the day off being agreeable (at least until 5 or 6 AM) before I run into someone who p*sses me off. Unfortunately I already ran into one of our "favourite posters" already this morning........................:smile:

Over 200 Ontario residents have been sent to the US for certain medical procedures that aren't available here,so its only Danny's high profile that has caused this controversy. For example,my sister has had her knees worked over in a NY hospital on the Medicare dime & she has no money at all.

Why would Danny Williams go to the U.S. to get his operation? As stated, he says it was not available in Newfoundland, is it because of a special condition that he has. Maybe so, but it could also be that he wants his condition to be special. He could go to Toronto, Ottawa or other Canadian cities that could do the operation, but at risk to him. He should remember that he comes on to the public as a cry-baby and he likely thinks that someone would like to take this trait away from him. Maybe he is afraid that he will get a heart, while in the hospital which will take his cry-baby trait away.
As rich as he is, he can afford to go where he wants to have his special operation, but he may have some questions to answer, (here is a opportunity for a politician to answer a question truthfully, like pigs are going to fly) but will likely dodge, saying that it is none of anybody’s business but his own. Place your bets on which way he will go when he gets back, (tell us why, tell us to gargle dirt).

In the final analysis it is his decision and really nobody else's business. Most people have "bigger fish to fry" than worrying about some politician's operation. If he goes to the U.S. it's a few less tax dollars out of our pockets.

How does this guy remain so popular? His criticized Harper for promoting a boogey man agenda of private healthcare than goes to the US for his healthcare needs? I guess all that oil waelth in Nfld is making residents as delusional as they are in Alberta.

Danny Willams's decision was based on his faith in the Canadian Health Care System.

Too bad you and me can not afford the the same decision in out hour of need.

Since the Health care system is a provincial jurisdiction, he has only himself to blame if it is inferior in Newfyland.

I think Williams wanted the best medical treatment. He saw Florida as the place to get it and it was his choice though a lot of people won't agree with him.
