When is someone going to do something about the big garbage problem?
Have you heard of the amaz-zing blu "green" garbage refining machine, will i have, a friend of mine has a design he's worked on for over 5 yrs to build such a machine, dump the garbage in its gone "forever" next truck, goes from garbage to liquid fertlizer. A 7 step proses that will eliminate garbage problems forever. Trucking from state to state is not the answer as you in canada has found out.
The world needs a machine that will eliminate the garbage problem will here it is, for more info contact me.

Your post would be easier to understand if it was written in English.

Yeah, it's one of the worst ads I've ever tried to read. If the magic garbage truck works as well as the marketing effort, I think the whole entertprise might be in trouble.

lol... oh be nice guys.

speaking of which though... by 2011, Edmonton is supposed to be at a 90% recovery rate for waste. Not just garbage, but sewer waste as well.

Without a landfill, Edmonton had to come up with a new way to manage their garbage, and so now all garbage is torn open, recyclables recovered, and the organic side of the waste is sent to be mixed with the biosolids from our sewer facility. The sludge is then mixed in a giant tumbler for roughly 3 days to get some of the moisture out, and the resulting mix is composted, and sold to garden centres and landscapers, etc.

Come 2011, even more waste will be 'gassified', and used for fuel.

A machine to 'eliminate' garbage is a foolish concept.

Organic material should be separated and composted.
Recycleable material should be separated and recycled.

That would leave very, very little to be disposed of, some could be incinerated, the rest buried.

I'm not convinced yet that all the trace viruses, drugs, etc actually get destroyed during this process. There are quite a few questions about whether this stuff should be used on food crops, but it is in a lot of areas.

That said, the last time I was in a waste treatment plant in Halifax, they showed me the huge tomatoes that grow in the sludge that was spilled out back.

Well, drugs such as hormones, etc., don't cook off I'm sure (nor do they disappear through any other method, and much are probably still in the water that is filtered off), but, they do monitor the temperature pretty strictly (it is composted indoors in a controlled environment) to ensure that pathogens are killed.

lol... yeah, it is an odd concept isn't it? This one was a forced issue though... I have no illusions that it was done to employ people. It was done simply because we couldn't find a new rug to sweep our garbage under.

Why worry about the drugs in this process? Its in our drinking water anyway... :x

Vancouver Island
we have pickup for reclyclables/ yard waste/ garbage
separate pickups

and if one has their own compost, there isn't much garbage
at all, for the city to worry about.

Something that irks me is the fact that not everyone places their garbage in lidded containers. We have a serious crow infestation every winter, and a lot of the problems with these s**t-hawks can be traced back to the easy access to garbage. We literally have over 20000 of the crows flying overhead at dusk and at dawn. Of course, the council don't want to do anything about them.

Perhaps a bylaw stating that you must have lidded containers for garbage bags containing items that animals or birds will get into will help?

Well, my post is about garbage, just not in the same vein as the OP.;-)
