This proves to me what I was thinking - the only good politician is a dead one (kinda like lawyers). Reminds me of an old wino up in Quesnel who used to say, "Shorty is a good man when he's a sleep."Yep, both he and Stanley Knowles.

Yep, you've got it about pegged, but Countryboy is trying to break trail for better things to come. (there is going to be one huge hurdle- finding replacements for about 308 politicians federally and about 80 provincially):lol::lol::lol:

Funny Cliff..
Oddly enough, I believe most politicians start off with good intent from all political stripes.
The issues lies in getting elected and special interest groups pulling them from side to side on issues..
But just like everyone else, power and money corrupts with time..
Yeah, I'm the eternal optimist! Or Dreamer.
It's not the politician. It's the system. Who ever raises the most money during the election usually wins, and there in lies the problem. The companies that gave those donations ...up to hundreds of thousands of dollars now make the decisions...not the politician.
YES- and there is a perfect illustration of how corrupt Gov't is. These donations are about 75% tax deductable and of course the bulk of the contributions is going to end up with the party in power. When you put an end to tax free political contributions that may be the first step toward clean gov't.
Having heard a lot about what we generally think of politicians, I think the most important "skill" one of them could have would be...
The ability to walk on water!
Funny you should mention that, somewhere in the recent past I've encountered someone like that several times who supports Liberals.:smile:

The ability to Walk on Water is no big deal..
The ability for honesty and tell the truth in a politician seems far more out of reach..:lol:
Yep, you're talking a BIG stretch there for sure!
Careful.... Isn't that how Trudeau got his last term?
