As a 45 year old male, I don't recall any friend of mine that didn't have this poster in his room back in the 70's.

He might have had talent, but he was also a pervert.

That's the problem, there's a lot of decent people who make big sacrifices for friends, strangers and family just by dedicated hard work without special talents who are mainly unrecognized, but if you are a singer or an accurate shot with a hockey puck or can pound someone's face in in the ring you are a hero. Where are our values?

In Toronto there was an intense rainstorm at noon and five or six hours later there was a light rainstorm.

I was watching TV when the Michael Jackson story broke where they were reporting that he was in a coma I stepped out for a moment and as the rain was ending I saw a beautiful rainbow towards the east.

I watched it for a while then I came back in just to hear that the King of Pop had died.

All the media were reporting of Michael as a genius, an innovator, and Icon of all the ages.

These were the same media that hounded him during the child molestation trials, which he was found innocent.

America has this crazy law that says that even if you are innocent you can still be held accountable for damages.

In America they just love to go after famous black people because a couple of hundred years ago white America was the happiest when they had their black slaves.

Michael Jackson made really good music I wonder if the radio stations are going to play his music now that he is dead or will all those Pompous A$$ radio disc jockeys just sit on their high horse and beat their chests claiming victory over the beast repeating those sacred words Beat It, Beat It

He gave the world what they wanted. Good pop music steeped in funk and rock. Not to undermine those who give without recognition as you said, but Jackson inspired a whole generation of kids and adults alike with his music and dancing. His power in the music industry is proven by the quick sellouts at 50 cities around the world for his recently planned tour. The respect among his peers and fans is unquestionable as we are witnessing this moment around the world on TV, radio and the internet.

As for giving, Jackson was part of the inspiration behind We Are The World, which led to Band Aid, Live Aid and a host of other fundraisers that not only fed a lot of people but also raised awareness throughout the world about poverty in Africa.

I liked Jackson's music. As an entertainer, he is immortal.

Regarding his personal life, I felt sorry for him. Most of his adult life appears to be spent as a recluse. He had few true friends. Most people near him wanted something, usually money. I heard he may have been 500 million in debt.

When I heard he was dead, my first thought was he probably committed suicide.

They both died...both famous, but no disrespect, MJ is a little more famous, and infamous through out the world because of his ups, and downs. Rest in peace both of you.

I remember him as a kid, very cute talented black kid, jackson five, and he being the youngest and the best, but it all went downhill from there, he had to show everyone how to run away from 'who' you are, turn into a 'clown, what a failure he was at life, didn't seem to 'get it', too late now, very sad and pitiful.
He has looked dead for the past 20 years, now he can play the part for real.

Farah Fawcett was a good person, didn't deserve this, died too young, so sad.

I remember him as a kid. I had the thriller LP.

His later years were definitely bizarre, but what an entertainer he was.

It's really sad to see him go. RIP MJ.
