On this point I was being serious. I remember when I was in Vancouver many years ago and some Europeans (we all know how puny their tiny city states are) would ask Canadians how to get to different cities in BC. The Canadians, making referene to cities hundreds of km away, would use terms like only, merely, etc. The Europeans wouldbe asking how many hours to this or that town by bus. And the Canadians would anser, no, it's an overnighter.
oh! well apparently my holiday is totally organised for me so I'll just go where they take me (lol)

Can't wait to get there..They're tossing up whether to take me to vegas or Disney for New Years.. Last night they were booking a dinner 60 stories up hovering above Vegas strip! Ummmm where does one pee ? LOL! Crack me up... I so love theme parks so really really would love to go to Disney for New Years...
Is it true that Canadian people are anal about visitors removing their shoes when visiting one another's homes? Is it truly a common or mandatory thing?
I'm assuming people whom come to visit have clean shoes and are not dragging mud through the place of course...
It's not a biggie in NZ though some people do practise it though. I prefer my visitors make their own decision whether or not to remove their shoes and I am not offended either way. I would like my visitors to be comfortable.
My daughters BF's mother told me Canadian folk are "anal" << (her words) that visitors always remove their shoes as it's the polite thing to do along with removing your coat before dinner.
I would love your opinions and thoughts on the matter please....
If I was to come to your home for dinner and my shoes were clean and i was comfortable wearing them, would you allow me to do so?

I normally do it unless it's hazardous not to (been in places like that) It takes half a minute, just as when I go in a restaurant if there's female company I take my hat off. I'm not offended by hats but some are and the same with shoes unless I'm specifically told not to. It's a little thing.

I pretty much live in a ball cap- keeps the dandruff from breaking loose and keeps the bird crap out of my hair.
ha ha! I'm so gonna remember not to touch the stuff. My daughter told me that no matter what the desire you can buy it off the shelf in Canada ... Ummmmmmm perhaps I should rephrase that ... If it's edible, drinkable it can be bought!
We have sachets / pouches of stuff for colds too but most Kiwi's would grab a few lemons, squeeze the juice into boiling water add a tbsp vinegar and that helps cure a cold
