yeah, it's beginning to look like it could be the night of Dead Ducks and Doused Flames.
Canucks will be in tough. To me if the Canucks succeed it will come from taking advantage of the mistakes and chances Chicago gives up when playing that firewagon brand. Plus, limiting time in the penalty box because they won't have the same pk success against Chicago as St Louis. I suppose the overall team game needs to continue to have a chance.
All teams are in tough, same against detroit, but calgary was pretty wiped out
with injuries, they had weaknesses. We have played chicago quite successfully throughout the season, and yes they do play the firewagon brand, but they also have a good defense and goalkeeping, as we do.
St. Louis's power play was one of the best in the nhl, but fizzled against us,
as our pk kicked in, so we'll see how it does against chicago. Chicago definitely
have more individual high end players, but they are also very young, other than
havlat.
We definitely can't take all those penalties, that's for sure, but when a pk is
at it's best, the confidence with a man short is high, and things seem to work.
The St. Louis series was very physically taxing, good thing we had this time off
as injuries were showing up, and this time they have is allowing them to
heal, we might be a little rusty in first game, (expected), but better than
going 7 games with St. Louis and being banged up, like Calgary.
I don't really care if we win or lose, just want to see a real good series, with
both teams playing at a high intense level. I like chicago too, they are fast,
and talented, it will be fun to watch.
The Detroit/anaheim series will be exciting, I'm looking forward to it too.
Hope washington win tomorrow, and I really don't care who wins in the
carolina/n.jersey series.
While Anaheim played a great series, it can be said that the Sharks choked again. With all that talent, how could they look so ordinary?:-?

I agree Talloola: I'd much rather see a good, competitive series (with lots of hitting and hate!) than any one team win or lose big with one exception. I want the Rangers bounced ASAP, if the Caps can do it, fine but if not I want em out in 4 in the next round 
Against Chicago, Vancouver is in for a fight. The Blackhawks handled the Flames physicality very well and they have the skill and speed to match or exceed most of what the Canucks have to throw out. No secret here but Vancouver is going to have to play a waiting game: be patient, be disciplined, limit Chicago's offensive opportunities. If it turns into run-and-gun style hockey, the Canucks O will be outgunned. Their edge is Luongo and he'll have to come up big. Even with the youth in Chicago, I have a hard time giving the Canucks much of a nod in experience because they haven't done much ni the playoffs since the last trip to the finals.
And while I agree that Detroit is a tough challenge for anyone, the Ducks seem to have a more controlled fire and meanness than we've seen in a while. I'll say Detroit has the edge in most ways but something about Anaheim is screaming "don't count us out" to me. Its like they've got the hunger back. There's a lot of teams and a lot of hockey left but the Ducks look like they want it more than anybody right now.

I guess that's the difference between a 'true' hockey fan/lover, and a canuck fan,
who lives and dies with their team, and all other teams are the enemy.
Of course I want the Canucks to win, but the outcome for me isn't the point, it's
the process.
I love the way the nhl has risen in talent and speed since the lockout, and our
game is the best it's ever been, and by what I see in the junior level, it's going
to get 'even' get better.

The chicago/vancouver series could be a great series, everyone talks about how good
chicago is, and what kind of trouble they will be for Vancouver, but the reverse
can be talked about as well. Vancouver is very disciplined, all the time, and
are so well coached that they very seldom lose their structured style of playing.
The penalties have to be kept to a minimum. Chicago will have trouble with
our fast players too, and could get frustrated with canucks if they get behind,
and then chicago begin running around, and lose their focus, the youth
on that team are great players, but I have seen them become disconnected when
everything doesn't go their way. Habbibulin has been great, but must continue
to play that way.
Chicago haven't been to the playoffs for many years.
San Jose took the whole thing far to casual at first, it was too easy for them all
season. I never like the idea of being on top all the time, as a team never learns how to struggle and scramble and scrape out of trouble. By the time they
figured out how to 'fight' back, it was too late, as Anaheim had struggled for most of the season, then began to struggle up the ladder, similar to St. Louis,
and that makes a team very tough to beat, they finally believe in themselves,
and realize that they can do it.
Canucks had a huge struggle in January, and it made them band together and
fight hard to improve and get back to 'good' play, and that helped them a great
deal, and they will not forget that, they don't want to be down and out again,
it doesn't feel good.
San Jose have to get back to the drawing board, probably some changes should
be made, marleau and thornton were not very good at all, till toward the end,
then they improved, but didn't take over the leadership. They need some
character players, (Gillis always talks about character players.)
Congratulations to Ryan Kesler for being nominated for the Selke award. The best
two way player in the nhl. 3 were nominated, and he is one of them.

Washington is currently tied 1-1 with the Rangers at the end of the second period. You can tell it's a game 7 as there are not a lot of shots on either net. It's nice to see that Lundqvist gave up the goal on only the second shot of the period, though.;-)

Thought the capitals weren't going to do it, they seemed quite tight, and
really didn't dominate the game at all, but ,, 'who cares now', right?
I can't believe how the n.jersey/carolina game ended, it seemed like n. jersey was
just about to win it, under a minute to go, carolina scored and tied it, then they
scored another one and won it, everyone was stunned, so, that's it, the first round
is over.
