I still find it difficult to understand how people can deny that 6+ billion people can dump millions of tons of crap into the atmosphere and water every day and not affect the climate. Is there a gene missing in their DNA or something?

So you see no reason to prove inferences from data? That when experiment and models can't support a correlation that the next logical step is then to suspect the inference?

So you would rather, ad populum, just assume your biases are correct?

Now that is stupid.

In the meantime, we should prepare ourselves for the possibility that our cherished ideas about global warming may be, if not dead wrong, only partially correct. Intriguing recent evidence gathered from ice-rafted debris looks remarkably similar to a much older pattern that preceded an ice age. We may have to entertain the possibility that Earth’s natural climate development may be on a return to another such period, or at least to colder conditions than we now experience. If so, and ironically, the very greenhouse warming we fear may either mitigate the cooling or cancel it altogether.

If I had written (and had to defend) this drivel in my UNDERGRADUATE thesis, the Review Board would have laughed me out of the building.

The person who was quoted was/is an assitant professor - meaning they are still in school and basically one small step up from a "teaching assistant". He doesn't have tenure or is even working towards it. If he was he's be an "associate professor", he might have a smidgen of credability

Good source Eaglet. What.... you couldn't get Nancy Grace on the phone to back your "facts(?0 up?

This argument from authority might work but only on someone who hasn't had the opportunity to talk with tenured professors outside of a university.

The only thing certain about tenured professors is that they think they know a lot but it has been my experience, that on whole, they are nothing too spectacular and certainly don't deserve reverence.

soooooo.... what's your point? If a tenured professor is "nothing too spectacular" (your words), an assistant professor is somewhat akin to a common ameoba? If so, that's my point exactly

Man's contribution to the mess this planet is in can't be denied - and people ought to be ashamed of themselves for their disrespect. Man's part isn't as great as man might think ... and a delusion to think man is so powerful. Man played a bit part. Global warming is a cycle. It's like a washing machine. How many millions of tons of crap and cubic miles of noxious gasses blast into the atmosphere in one volcanic eruption? How many eruptions have there been over how many eons. You're here to read this aren't you? Man cannot not slow global warming any more than he can stem the tides or make the sun rise in the west. He would be a fool to try for that would be the end of Earth.

If there really is global warming happening man has zip to do with it. We still haven't got back to the temperatures experienced in medieval England when they could grow grapes. And Qualicum Beach wouldn't be covered in cold white stuff. That only happens east of Hope. It is a good lie though as this is the first time that people actually got to thinking about cleaning up their ****. Even Victoria, that last bastion of high tea and tight asses who think their **** don't stink is finally going to treat their sewage before dumping it into the ocean.

What scientific data are you talking about? The data that proves or disproves global warming. Scientists can't agree and there is data that goes up and data that goes down. There are as many opinions as there are scientists. Science is the new religion and I am an atheist on this to. My opinion is based on my personal observations. If that makes me stupid in your eyes, it's no sweat off my balls.

I'm not talking about any data but the inference that some data has a causal relation to other data.

Oh give it up... you're the one that first alluded to it being stupid to question GW. I just said its stupid to buy into it without proof.

Now you say you don't care for proof at all. That it is all opinion anyway and so that means your experience is the most important.

So within the context of your first post and this one it seems your argument is that: If people do not share your perception of things then there must be something wrong with their DNA (an implication of malformation like stupidity).

So, to preserve the peace, I won't make a rebuttal in my typical fashion but just suffice it to say that I don't see that as a very convincing argument.

Scott Free,

There is no argument or rebuttal. It is just my opinion, my two cents worth in the stew that is this topic.

PS: I threw in the DNA remark to stir up the toilet bowl.

No such thing, it's all to the death - take no prisoners! ;-)

But yes, I get your meaning, I am prone to fits of enthusiasm.

I've always had a hard time ranking people in any kind of order.

It seems to me knowledge can both enlighten and blind. Where one person can see a thing well because of it another may see it well for lack of it.

I just think it's a mistake to overlook anyone for love of a label.

Well aren't you just a slap and a tickle. Its not that we disagree, but that we agree to disagree. Now that is ignorance.

How is agreeing to disagree ignorance? That is being civil. Being uncivil is when someone has a different point of view and the other mocks him.

However this guy had his published!

FAILED...again

Assistant professor an introductory level professor. A position generally taken after receiving Ph.D. and/or completing a post doctoral fellowship. After 4-8 years, assistant professors will be either tenured or dismissed from the university.

Good source Eaglet. What.... you couldn't get Nancy Grace on the phone to back your "facts(?0 up?

Apparently my sources are far superior than yours. You have no clue about what you are talking about. What a simpleton you are Tyr.

Well Obama had $400 Million put into the Stimulus Package for GW Research.

Poor Petros... still stinging because you were exposed as being a 9/11 conspiracist and Alex Jones fan.

Do you want to start again? Do you want me to start cutting and pasting from your own posts of how dellusional you are?
