It starts on thread 25 I believe... then gets better.

Yes your exchange begins there but not sure where the insults begin, it seems to have begun from a basic lack of repect for one another lack reeks of school yard tactics.

I don't see anyone being blameless.

Neither one of you qualifies as experts from any of the statements you made so it makes both points in my opnion moot.

hehe For a while and in my earlier days I limited the tag of "scientist" to anyone having a doctrate of philosophy in some field or other.
Now, I pretty much include anyone with extensive knowledge in a particular gield of study. That includes people without the education and paperwork that says they are "expert". I have met people without paperwork that were more aware of aspects of something than the papered person, just as I've known backyard mechanics with a better handle on mechanics than graduated mechanics.

Avro... I am laughing here. You are not one to talk about someone elses school yard tactics... nor am I for that matter.

Well said! WELL SAID!

BRAVO!

Common sense. Everyone knows there is a warming trend but environmentalist have seized the opportunity to extort money from corporations. They want money, plain and simple. It has gone way beyond science now... way beyond scientists. This is a Green Political Issue now... of biblical proportions. Bigger than the "Save the Seals" and "No More Nukes" issues. The venom that comes from these folks is astounding! I got to hand it to them...it was a passionate movement. However it is dying out.

So you admit there is a warming trend and climate change?

Only time will tell who is right but after speaking with a few scientists including a famous meteologist the following is where we are headed. Which is why I do as much as I can to offset it.

Arctic Sea Ice - Visuals Gallery - NCAR News

I'm not a backyard scientist who proclaims to know all I just go by what real people have told me.

I believe that the earth has always cooled and warmed and that it is just the way it works. I do not believe in the Global Warming Movement and do not believe there is a global crisis with warming.

When Katrina hit the GW folks all said...

"Ah HA! Proof of Global Warming!"

Then the next year when there were hardly any hurricanes they said...

"Well that's because of Global Warming."

Blizzards... Global Warming, Heat Waves... definately Global Warming, Rain in Sascathewan...Global Warming... Snow in San Diego... Global Warming.

When people say there is global warming and man is responsible for it I disagree. The earth will warm and cool and we can't do a thing about it. GW activists want to shake down corporations and take their money for their agendas. It will make it expensive and costly for all of us. I used to be able to give the gas station 10 bucks for an inspection sticker... now it is up to $40 because of emmisions testing. Wealthy do-gooders can pay that w/o batting an eye. That's chump change.

Would you call GWB and John McCain enviromental activists because they both climbed on board the AGW train?

We have emission testing as well but I don't it as just a way to control co2 but as a way to curb air pollution a clear and visible concern.

I'd rather go electric. No-one can say for an absolute certainty that humans have or haven't contibuted to warming the planet up, but then climatology is a young science.
The effects of warming aren't so great, though. And that's a certainty. Less food, less fresh water, biodiversity shrinking, etc. as an indirect or direct result.

Electric?

What do we do with all the batteries when they are spent?

I don't even use the energy efficient lights because of the mercury and radiation they emit.

I've done different things.

Hardly. I think GW said it to just have everyone shut up about it.

I think it is all part of it. The idea that we are in a global emergency of dire consequences... I just don't buy. I think GW was hijacked by politics and became a way for extreme environmentalist to make big business do what they want. To make them pay. It is about power.

I joke a lot about carbon credits but that is what these folks wanted. They want to force corporations to buy carbon credits, to force them to invest in THEIR companies that have no guarentee of any return because of global warming. To make companies like Dow pay what would amount to hundreds of millions (I'm guessing there) to make their carbon footprint neutral. Footprints that extreme environmentalist would set up to squeeze out maximum dollars.

GWB's only positive legacy is his polices on the enviroment and McCain recognised the problem as well.

Carbon credits are a novel idea but a tax is more efficient letting evvryone invest in protecting the enviroment while saving money as well. Unfortunately the economic crisis the U.S. made will put a dent in any future achievments in curbing co2 production and the video I supplied earlier will be reality.

Ever heard of recycling?

Leave the lights of your watersled, snowsled, ATV, etc. all shining in your windows?

No I turn them off and leave them by my wind turbine, they may glow though from the shine of the solar panels on my cottage and the garage where they are kept next to the 450 acres of land I bought to preserve the trees and wild life.

I have heard of recycling but how do we recycle battery acid? Millions of tons of it.

Plus why do you care, if carbon isn't a problem in your eyes?

Pure Cycle - Acid Recycling Systems:
Something else to do with acids is to take it apart and use the components for ither things.

Plus why do you care, if carbon a problem in your eyes?
I was curious as to what you used for lighting.

A tax? Who gets the tax money? The government. What will they spend it on... whatever they want. Who will corporations deflect costs upon... us.

I think that this was an opportunity that extremists took advantage of. I think they thought it was a done deal and scoffed at anyone who disagreed with them.

"Your stupid...pay up!"

Mafia style!

Hero?

How glib, should I go a different direction? There is a small creek beside my cottage as well, thinking harnessing the power from it somehow but the township is giving me problems regarding that.

Anyways thanks for the info on acid recycling, I shall study it.

Regular lights.

The government will get the money while at the same time reducing income and corperate tax.

Quite simple really the more you reduce your carbon footprint the more more you will save.

Water rights over water used for various things is a touchy subject here, too. We have a power license for the creek that runs through here, but would rather use a more passive method of power and has less environmental impact.
You're welcome.
Why not LEDs?
