And this is why according to Canuck's exhaustive research, Michael Phelps will never amount to anything, he lacks cognative skills and motivation.

the US olympic committee, they can shelve him as a bad rolemodel.

You can't have someone who's used drugs being a rolemodel to millions. What if it came out that he also did cocaine in his youth? Imagine how terrible a rolemodel he'd be then!

Firstly, I never suggested he or any pot smoker wouldn't amount to anything but you are right, he does lack cognitive skills...walk away from millions in endorsements just for a toke at a party. Another example backing up my observations.

Well to each their own.... I used to drink all the time, now I screwed my stomach and can't drink without crapping out liquid fire for 2 days.....

But even when I did take the time to drink, I never understood why people did.... you get sick, puke your guts up, loose your co-ordination, tend to act either stupid, ignorant, jerkish, violent, or something else not all that positive.... you can end up forgetting what you did most of the night before in some cases...... it's expensive considering what you need to spend to get some sort of an effect in just one night..... I could spend the same amount of weed that would last me at least three days.

But people do, so who am I to argue?

You know, I think that no one taught you to drink. From what you described, you drank to get hammered. When you are a kid and get access to booze at 18, 19, or 21, all the doors open and you can have all you want. No one around you knows anything except that you have to learn how to drink like a MAN and this means puking and getting blitzed out of your mind.

It is actually all wrong.

To drink correctly you have to learn a few things about yourself like your limits, your threshold and what sort of alcohol affects you in the right way.

This, like enjoying pot, should be taught to kids as they are reaching their later teen years. What to eat with what to prepare the palate, how to clense, and how to mix the assorted flavours so that at the end of the evening, you have a delicious glow, and your system is able to handle the detoxification of the alcohol and pot you have embibed over the evening.

I drink Bushmills Black Bush Irish Whiskey because of the taste and texture. I drink Guinness because of the taste and texture. Not to get drunk, I rarely get drunk anymore.

But it's madness to think that if you tall kids it's bad all their life and not to touch it, then one day when they reach an age, you open all the locks and tell them to be good while all their friends are yelling drink drink drink at them, that there won't be a problem.

Seems to me that it's exactly backwards.

Teach them what it is and a responsible way to enjoy it, and allow them to discover their boundries while safe at home with you to guide them, and you won't go wrong.

And of course he is all of what 23?
Everyone knows that at that age kids are as responsible and understand the ramifications of all things. Especially those shealtered ones who were never allowed to think about anything other than a sport.

If you want to see the most responsible and inteligent activities in the world, look no further than your local college or university at end of year. Or any sping break.

23 is not a kid. I already owned my first house by then and I didn't have millions in endorsement money. If I had, I would have made some effort to protect it. Then again, I wasn't a pot smoker with poor cognitive skills.

Niether is an 18 year old. Still "kids" is a relative thing. My two are grown adults yet they both are still kids when I see them.

I would suspect that Phelps has spent far more than you paid for your house back then on PR to protect his endorsments.

And about this poor cognitive skills stuff I would like to see what you think about people who have smoked pot in this list.

"Kids" can be used as a relative term. More based on maturity and experience rather than age. Of course anyone with a limited conitive ability wouldn't see that.

And speaking of cognitive skills, perhaps you could show us how you measure of against the works of these pot heads.

No one around you knows anything except that you have to learn how to drink like a MAN and this means puking and getting blitzed out of your mind.

Although I didn't mention it before, the times I was referring to were when I was 18-19 years of age..... I did a lot of drinking at that time and it took a few years to figure out my limits.... by that time the damage was already done. Now I just don't drink, or have very little to make it pointless to even drink it period.

It is actually all wrong.

To drink correctly you have to learn a few things about yourself like your limits, your threshold and what sort of alcohol affects you in the right way.

Of course.... but that's certainly not the healthiest manner of learning how to handle such a drug.... at least with weed, I never had that problem.

This, like enjoying pot, should be taught to kids as they are reaching their later teen years.

Makes sense.... they teach sex ed, why not?

What to eat with what to prepare the palate, how to clense, and how to mix the assorted flavours so that at the end of the evening, you have a delicious glow, and your system is able to handle the detoxification of the alcohol and pot you have embibed over the evening.

I drink Bushmills Black Bush Irish Whiskey because of the taste and texture. I drink Guinness because of the taste and texture. Not to get drunk, I rarely get drunk anymore.

See, I'm the opposite... it all taste like absolute sh*t to me, it always has.... I don't enjoy the texture or flavor.... the only thing that would give me reason to drink any of it is to get drunk or a light buzz.... since I don't care for that either most of the time these days, I have no real reason to drink.

But you enjoy it, so to each their own.... I got nothing to say about what you like or don't.

But it's madness to think that if you tall kids it's bad all their life and not to touch it, then one day when they reach an age, you open all the locks and tell them to be good while all their friends are yelling drink drink drink at them, that there won't be a problem.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell.... society treats alcohol as a recreational thing, rather then an actual drug that it is.

Seems to me that it's exactly backwards.

Teach them what it is and a responsible way to enjoy it, and allow them to discover their boundries while safe at home with you to guide them, and you won't go wrong.

Well with me in my younger years, I guess I was lucky.... I had a friend who's mother allowed us to have our parties at her house, because she, much like my own parents, would rather know where we are and what we're doing in case of an emergency, then to allow us to head off to god knows where to try and drink.

And if you don't believe drugs have done good things for us, do me a Favor: go home tonight and take all your albums, all your tapes, and all your cds and burn em'. 'Cause you know what? Observation is coloured by ones own judgments on life. Cunnuck bought a house by 23. Actually you probably convinced some bank to give you a mortgage which I suppose is an accomplishment at that age.

By 27 I was squatting in the forest of BC after spending eight years rising through the ranks of Northern Telecom from file clerk to engineer. My views of life and reality are considerably different. I look at someone with a university degree with disdain because I look at our forests and the number of people who die from prescription drugs every year (to name just two) and see that this was accomplished by people with degrees.

People who "accomplish something" of their lives can be just a shallow or ignorant as a homeless person. In fact it has been my observation that street people are probaly more aware, more intelligent than most with degrees. Just because our society sets standards for accomplishment doesn't necessarily make those accomplishments worth while. Just look at all the rich and famous people in Holliwood who are totally screwed up.

You probably know what it's like to be a tree. I don't think they even teach that sort of thing in school. For all the higher learning in the world, for the most part we still don't understand the simplest of things.

While I agree 23 is not a kid (I was my mothers second child at that age), lets not kid ourselves. Pot smokers also own homes, I know a heavy pot user who had his own home paid for by 22. No matter how much you like to pretend you know statistics on pot users, its simply not that case. If it were, our society would have collapsed because 1/3rd of our population smoke pot.

I think it’s kind of pathetic that the world expects they’re celebrates to be next to godliness. If that’s not a blatant invitation for rebellion, I don’t know what is. And who needs all that pressure, anyway? I might not smoke the stuff myself – never have, never will - but at least it was just pot. Imagine all the laughs people would have gotten if he had been caught getting high off a jiffy marker or cooking spray!
