With the recent political events, we've received an overwhelming response from you. In one day alone, we welcomed over 13, 000 comments from readers. Not surprisingly, comments and opinions can often be shaped by region.

We want to know how the current political situation would affect your region. What do you think about what's going on in Ottawa?

Basically it's a big waste of time and money- we certainly don't want another election for $300 million to come up with approximate the same results or at the very least another minority. I don't want to be governed by a party that includes the separatists. I don't really want to see tax payer's money going to fund political parties, I don't really want to see bailout packages to big companies who's C.E.O.s are getting performance bonuses for non performance. It doesn't both me if going on strike is restricted at a time when other Canadians are trying to find jobs. At the very least I think a 90 day cooling off period should be imposed. And last of all as a British Columbian I don't need any more political problems to add to the ones we already have.

Let's see Dion wants to put in a Green Shift and Layton wants to shut down the oilsands Albertas' not too optimistic. This is nonsense, we need some serious parliametary reform if these kind of shananagins are allowed on the hill.

It's all about the economics Lester. Add in chasing away foreign investors and it becomes a growth bonanza. How will we ever thank them?

If gov't is going to provide "stimulus packages" they should be in the form of either a cash rebate or a tax deduction to the consumer for products they purchase- NOT a bailout to the companies. Responsible and profitable companies would eventually get "bailed out" by this method anyway. I'm all for an initiative like this being on a sliding scale depending on the "greenness" of the product purchased.

The Green Shift is dead.... the Liberal party no longer supports it and none of the other parties would support it.

and Layton wants to shut down the oilsands Albertas' not too optimistic.

Layton never wanted to shut down the oilsands, he wanted to slow/stop further production/development until a logical plan can be made to help reduce the level of pollution coming from it.... that's it. Then it all goes back to full production and development.

I figured some environmental fixes and such on the oilsands would be for the good of Albertans in regards to their direct health.

This is nonsense, we need some serious parliametary reform if these kind of shananagins are allowed on the hill.

Agreed.

Hey, nobody is chasing money away from Canada Kreskin, if you think the Coalition Party is not interested, first and foremost, in the economic welfare of this nation then sir you are sadly mistaken and perhaps delusional, like Colpy maybe. You should most definately get down on your knees and thank them because they have saved you and every other Canadian from the fiscal irresponsibility of the Conservative Party and there morbid insistance on ideology over economy and signifigantly enhanced the investment climate of Canada at the very same time, a colaborative effort of the finest political minds of our nation. Thanks are very much in order sir.

One poster said N.D.P. tax and spend and Cons borrow and spend- which I believe is an indirect way of tax and spend. My personal opinion is Cons and Libs are about the same depending on who the head honcho is. Both Trudeau and Mulroney ran up an obscene amount of debt, while Martin was very frugal and paid a lot of it back. I don't perceive Harper as being particularly wasteful in the spending department. JMHO.

As you just said, Martin paid a lot of it back.... and he's going to be a part of this coalition, therefore one could expect the same approach of straightening this crap all out.

There is a lot of experience coming to the table to fix this situation through the Coalition.

What does Harper have?

The conditions of parliament are effecting the response to the Pine Beetle Epidemic in Central BC. Funding promised in response to this issue has been dragg ing its way slowly through the Conservative Government's "process" and came to a screeching halt before the election. We can anticipate more of the same.

Government is not working for the residents of North Central BC.
