I pray humanity is exterminated in the very near future. We're a generally an immoral, arrogant, clumsy, greedy race and we've overstayed our welcome. I for one take extreme pleasure in vivid reveries of mass extermination of the human race.

The reason wildlife is coming into our habitat is because there is so little of theirs left. We keep encroaching and destroying their home. Compared to a hundred years ago, they have very little territory left and most of it is fragmented. And I am not some Toronto yuppy. I lived with wildlife in their territory for ten years without incident. But I watched as their home was destroyed by over logging and mining.

When I arrived in 72 there were a few visible clear cuts. When I left that area in 87 there were very little visible forest left. Humanity is like locust devouring the planet. We have no respect for anything other than our own greed.

If I saw this animal in the wild I would have identified it as a wolf:

Eastern Coyote Photo

Them's the guys, Juan. They pack up to hunt each evening. We can hear them calling to get the troop organized. Then it gets quiet, and you know they're on the move.

Some friends of mine hunt them in the dead of winter, using large hounds (maybe Plott x Walker. Not my cup of tea, but the hunting helps keep the coyote numbers down...............ergo: We have damn deer coming out our yingyang, and resultant wrecks on highways.

In the 1970's, around here, there were almost no deer to speak of, and very few coyotes. "They" brought in a buck law, and an anterless (doe) draw for deer hunting, and the deer numbers have exploded to the point they are a menace to drivers and really do a number on farmers' crops. And, the coyote population has increased right along with the deer. Mess with maw nature and you pay.

I've got to argue a bit with that Cliffy.....I like the wild places.....but nature is very adaptable........

150 years ago there were no deer in NB. No coyotes. the wolves were on the decline........Now there are almost 100,000 deer, abundant coyotes, wolves and cougars are making a come-back.....all because of the deer....which can live in this area because....they feed very nicely on the young growth that springs up from logging.....nature adapts.

There are more white-tail in North America now than at any other time......

Nope. I don't see where you get "troll" from, I am 100% serious.

Calling me a ***** for realizing the utter failures of humanity, well that's just moronic in itself. More irony from you.

Now tell me more about the sanity and peaceful utopia of Israel.

I wish to hell we had more coyotes or wolves around Nanaimo. The deer are an absolute pest. My wife is a real green thumb gardener and she has to protect everything she plants with deer fencing or chicken wire. It is not uncommon to see six or seven deer in our yard in the morning eating anything they can get at.

What is your problem?

Hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Canadians hunt every year, and they do it for the sport of it...(read fun). The vast vast majority of hunters do NOT do so because they need to fill the larder, believe me....it is an expensive sport, and ground beef ain't nearly that pricey.

Yes, I shoot coyotes. If a few more people shot coyotes a promising young folk singer would still be alive today. Nature is wild, and dangerous, and fear of man in large predators, or pack carnivores, is a instinct that badly needs to be encouraged.

How about addressing the argument and not sliding off into some emotional and incoherently insulting rant???
"Ground beef ain't nearly that" tasty either. lol We kill game mostly for health reasons. Wild game is healthier than chemical-laden meat riddled with fat.

Actually there is plenty of space for people and critters but we are pushing the limits. Why critters are encroaching into human space is because we feed them. Garbage dumps, garbage cans, pets, etc. are a huge attraction because they are easy meals that don't fight back very much, if at all. Critters have two-directional transmissions, food and mating. Sometimes there's a little fun involved or protecting their kids, but they are almost entirely interested in eating and mating. Why people don't get that is just odd to me, but not a surprise. Most people are extremely ignorant of human's neighbors.

Then quit killing the coyotes and let them keep the deer population down. Sheeeeeeeeeesh

The law increased the deer population?

Get a couple border collies. :) Ours manage to keep the deer away most of the time and they are too smart for coyotes. Well ours are anyway. Our female actually coaxes coyotes into the open sometimes. That's a total reversal of roles. lol

No you are not serious.

Not even close.

If you were serious, you would be dead.

Obviously, you haven't thought this through...........which doesn't surprize me in the least.

Oh, apparently you think I'm wrong about the absolute , immense failure that is humanity. The rapid deterioration of society. Please tell me I should be optimistic about our great race, majority dominated by generally malevolent, violent, uncaring, incompetent people.

I want to quote George Carlin here from his book Brain Droppings.

"I think the human game was up a long time ago, when the high priests and traders took over. And now we're just playing out the string. And that is of course preciously what I find so amusing. The slow circling of the drain by a once promising species, and the sappy ever more desperate belief in this country that there is actually some sort of an American dream which has merely been replaced."

"The decay and disintegration of this culture is astonishing amusing if you're emotionally detached from it. And I've always viewed it from a safe distance. Knowing I don't belong. Doesn't include me, it never has. No matter how you care to define it , I do not identity if the local group. Planet, species, race, nation, state, religion, party, union, club, assoication, neighbourhood improvement committee. I have no interest in any of it."

"I love and treasure individuals as I meet them. I loathe and despise the groups they identity with and belong to."

Well I'm not suicidal and there are many things I enjoy in life regardless of my recognition of the failures of humanity.

George Carlin said it, so it must be true.

Things change. People evolve. Eventually we may evolve to something that benefits Earth. Humanity as a species is very young. You cannot expect the young to be perfectly wise. Eventually wisdom will poke through the fog. Hopefully before we kill ourselves through stupidity or ignorance.

Eh? I quoted an excellent excerpt from a book by George Carlin that happened to be an opinion that I wholeheartedly agree with. I didn't cite anything as absolute truth.

As far as humans progressing into a more mature and benevolent race, I wouldn't hold my breath.

If I was getting a dog it would likely be a Border Collie. We travel a fair amount in our old age and the dog would have to be boarded somewhere.

Can you get a silencer for a twelve gauge?;-)

It isn't a secret that evolution takes time. We have a half billion years more to evolve before we have to find a new planet (assuming we don't kill ourselves off before then).
