Oh oh, your hypocrisy is showing again.
Canada's monarchy would be undemocratic if it was an Absolute Monarchy. But it isn't. It's a democratic Constitutional Monarchy, a form of government in which a monarch acts as head of state within the parameters of a constitution, whether it be a written (like Canada's), uncodified (like the UK's) or blended constitution and in which the Head of State has little political power. On top of that Canadians elect their political leader - the Prime Minister - in democratic General Elections. There is nothing undemocratic about the Constitutional Monarchy. In fact, I believe it to be the best form of governance in today's world.
Supporting monarchy based on tradition only is silly. I do support monarchy in principle, but not at all owing to any traditional reason.
As for being different from the US, that's silly too. If our goal is to be different from the US, then may I recommend we switch sides when driving, dump the English language, dump NATO and NORAD, and do a host of other things just to be different.
Heck, there's red and white in the US flag, so let's get rid of that in our flag too.
I'm for culture, which I sidtinguish from blind tradition, as culture implies an understanding of why one does something as opposed to doing it just because daddy did it.
Now just for the record, while I prefer elective monarchy over republic, I would prefer republic over inherited monarchy.

And those numbers probably show the monarchy more favorably due to the Will and Kate's wedding bump.
The burning question is............"Is she an asset or a liability"? I've generally given her credit for being an asset but have never seen any figures on it and I realize with the amount of the G.G.'s spending I could well be wrong. I wonder if the G.G. has to report his/her expenses back to Lizzy!
And the ROC would turn its money monarch side down. The British monarchy is not a unifying institution.
