Ummm, they didnt close any valves bud, just stopped new development and new wells.
I guess you never heard of the clipper.
I guess you never heard of the clipper.
.It takes lots of money to stay ahead with future exploration and infrastructure and if the money isnt there you sit back and wait for better times and work with what you have.
How did they stop flow when a TCP line exploded near Englehart in Northern Ontario?
What were the Royalty Rates in Sask before AB changed theirs?I guess I should change my username to "Backhome". And don't worry I will be calling Saskatchewan people the same thing when the oil companies do the same to us if we ever demand more for "our" oil. Sorry for not having pitty for a company that makes 1.6 billion per quarter, but does not want to pay the people for their resources.
King David Rockefeller rules ALL of the Americas. North and South.Look...don't take it personally all you Albertans, I just wanted to get my point across that the oil companies dictate and control the province and the people there. Just as they will here soon.

Before AB changed theirs to the higher level?

Prior to the influx of companies here, our taxes were the problem to investing companies, we were not investor friendly, they were being taxed too much.
Actually I am back in my home province of Saskatchewan. Why, you ask? I follow the work, just as many many thousands of people that reside in Alberta did. They followed the work. Alberta has among the lowest royalty rates in the world when it comes to oil. Look it up for your self, but among the highest oil reserves in the world. The US needs that oil and will pay what ever it takes to get it, what is their option...Venezuela, which by the way I applaud for nationalizing their oil industry. I've worked in the oil industry as well, and over the past 7 years I have seen the oil companies "slowly" crank the valve closed. Why? To teach the government a lesson. Don't you dare ever raise those royalty rates again. If you do we will hurt you and your people severely. Period. PEI stood up to them and won, and that is the only reason I referenced that province, it was too big for them to put off until the fight was over. The only reason all this is happening in Alberta is because the oil industry does not like poor Ed and since they run that province they are getting rid of him their way. Make it look like it is his fault for all the unemployment. Any one that thinks that the oil industry does not rule that province as they will soon rule Saskatchewan is living in a dream land. They dictate who is in power, end of story.
Sorry but for all you people that moved there for the work, which is most of you, you will now have to move back to your home province of Saskatchewan because it is the next alberta, and yes it is all by design, not by government decisions.
And for all of you who say I do not know how the oil industry works and that budgets have been cut for drilling and such...wake up we just went through and are still going through a reccession and oil and gas are at pretty low prices in case you have not notice. $70 to $80/barrel not $100 to $120/barrel. But I guess all you people think that is Ed's fault as well. Look I am not defending all of Ed's policies I don't know enough about them. This one how ever I do know, and you are all chastising the wrong person, and now that the oil companies taught you a lessson you are all happy to "give" your oil away.
Have you looked world wide my friend. That was the highest rate for current land based oil in Canada if not North America.
At no point did I state that Sask. was higher or as high.Looks like Saskatchewan's top tier is 39% to me.
You should read your links before you tell other to "check the numbers".
As it should be for God's sake you have the 2 largest oil reserve in the world. Quit giving it away. If the oil companies want it, they will pay for it. Do you really think they would just wake away from the 2nd largest oil reserve in the world. Do what you want ...give it away re-elect...I could give a rat's a## what you do. I just think you are all very stupid to think it is because of royalty increases that unemployment jumped in Alberta. It was called a reccession and it started in 2004 around the time that job numbers started to decrease. It clearly points out that Alberta royalties are still higher than either BC or Texas AFTER Stelmach's latest royalty cut.
