To me - Avril isn't worthy enough to be up there with the truly magnificant bastards....she's just a speck.

Ok i fell better now:roll:

Doc

I've only been reading you for a month and a bit - but I enjoy your reactions and posts so much. You are a special guy you know?

I think I appreciate you more because you often get into trouble as I do - and your feelings are right out there for people to see....

It's fine you admire Avril - and aren't afraid to shout it out - haha - If she has fans like you - she might be around until she grows up (which can't come soon enough).

So, Doc, you'd wanna hear about the time I worked with Lavigne for a week, I'd imagine?

I sorta liked her music and thought she was a cute little pixie, then I met her, and was repulsed by her mall-rat narcissism, her cynical sneer at anyone else's initiative, and her petty, selfish, demanding nature.

Oh, and BTW, as a live performer - she sucks hard enough to pull the moon in to a closer orbit. Her band, and the sound guy's vocal processing, totally carry her.

That's the way it is with most artists. Generally, the most popular member of a band is the weakest link musically.

ok truth time....i do like her.a few of her older songs ...filled with angst about being a teenager. She sparked me way after she was popular i gave a listen to few songs and liked the angst.

i don't own anything by her8O
I see her on lettermen and other talk shows and cringe...
There was one really late late late guy i never heard of...it was so staged and catered to her you could see she was pulling the strings. It spoke volumes.

Her latest album sucks, ceptin for lols on forums by a guy named D'Avril...

My real escape is blues..not an afficiendo on the new stuff but the old guys i own a lot of....I love jazz..have a few of the classics as well....sandy's son is a jazz fan...knows and owns everything..i'm amazed how many cd's he has....my apt. is not big enough.....I have one friend who got me into jazz in the 80's..he plays....

once he was playing this thing on his piano....his son was there who also plays and they knew i knew little bout jazz at the time.....I said wow that song makes me think of New York City....they both nearly died...it was called Times Square.....true story....He actually sparked my interest in jazz

60's is my roots pop wise ....some 70's and 80's music is my fun stuff.....

I love clssical music and get this ....italian Opera...yes I love it....

ok just had to set record straight here.....D'Avril is in a coma....

Paul Butterfield Blues Band.....i actually had the sunglasses and the jacket as a kid(14) and would wander round in the heat of summer and well into the night trying to look like him...hahahahaha...my sunglasses were God....Barb once asked to try em on in the park....i said ok but do not touch the lenses....to my horror she had chocolate fingies and went are these the lenses and smeared chocolate on em....ARGHHHHH!!! thank gawd it was after dark and i did not NEED them....lol!

Saw sonny terry brownie magee at the esquire show bar in montreal when i was 15(yup you could get into bars there back in the day)...talked to them at the bar...Was all proud to ask if they ever met Paul Butterfield....He turned to me, and said dryly"I taught Paul butterfield" which he probably did...hahahahaha...one was blind it was the guy who could see that talked to me....

Pangloss she sold 26 million albums....somebody must like her.

Juan,

People eat at McDonald's and watch reruns of "Friends." Besides, my comments were about her as a live performer and somebody I had to deal with backstage - her records are undisputably better than her shows.

I must admit I quite like her songs and the lyrics in some songs. Only yeah in her concert at least in Singapore, even from my seat which was not in front of the stage mind you, I could see she was acting as if she were bored to be there and I felt pity to the fans who were shouting her name and I could see as if she cared less. I was bored being in a new country, not knowing what to do yet and I thought the concert wouldn't have been bad. Well that was a bad decision...
And in one of her interviews on TV, oh dear, she kept uttering things like,"I don't know" or "Uh, ehm..." and acted like a teenage punk who acts tough but actually has no clue. I guess you don't have to be like a Barbie to be an airhead...
This is a harsh comment, coming from me... I just expected more somehow...
Now, come to think of it, maybe Pink was like that when she was younger... Both look quite manipulative, towards men especially...

Sorry Shadow - I see the confusion in that whole sequence... I just can't imagine anyone who knows music who would like Lavigne's style(?) I hope this will clear up the misunderstanding...
I appreciate that you wrote to me about this - and hope there are no bad feelings ... not from me anyway.... I am always getting caught in some kind of trouble for my banshee ways....

I am/was Canadian and last April took my US citizenship - having lived down here for just under 20 years.

I post on Canadian forums because I get lots of feedback about Canada these days, and try to keep up with the current issues going on - and yes the flag is confusing but I started using it in April - prior to that I never used a flag at all.

I didn't think Doc would mind if I thought his fav was a failure.... as Juan points out - everyone likes her.... or the masses do..... whereas I guess I listen for real music ability than what the kids currently think is 'hot'.... when it's not. I am usually in the minority about musicians anyway.... people rarely get what I hear in them. For a couple years in 2001,2,3, I was collecting eveyrthing Norah Jones wrote or sang... people thought her dull. I thought she was primo. But that's me.

Can't think of any current favorites I have there are so many but I think the U.K. artists have kept true to musical ability and knowledge if any country has produced a majority - but I think there are great artists from all over the world.

Anyway - music should be loved on an individual basis.... and I shouldn't have included Avril in the worst Canadian category - I think Canada deserves to have real people posted - who have done a great damage to the nation as a whole. A bit down the ladder Trudeau was mentioned and he will always be my pick when I am being serious. He fractured Canada in far too many ways the ramifications of which are still being dealt with.

To me - Avril isn't worthy enough to be up there with the truly magnificant bastards....she's just a speck.

No worries, Curiosity. There is no ill will coming from me either.

As for you being a banshee...

Not really. But I think you have a penchant for peeking in windows...

What is that you are saying?

Er...look over there Curio, it is Spiderman!

*thinks to self* Now I can sneak out of here!

Oh crap! Here she comes again!Feets don't fail me now!!

Trudeau was the greatest Canadian. No one cares about some loser's made up list, this thread is a complete failure. Such a joke that people changed the topic to Avril Lavigne.
