I hate to rain on everyone's party - being so upset I don't like Lavigne....
In my own defense I got an Associate Degree from the Conservatory of Toronto when I was seventeen... practiced with jazz groups for fun (never professionally) around Vancouver - my mentor was a older guy named Fraser MacPherson - who organized many groups in B.C. and back east - and who has since departed... Vancouver was home to many small groups of locally grown musicians and I had the privilege of knowing many of the good people.
Fortunately for me I had great talent to compare myself to and realized I would never gain the fame these people would do...but learning from them...especially the appreciation of music which I still have with me which will last my lifetime.
