The Trump tariff puts an extra $3.000 on the cost of building a US house.

Big time. The attack of Bombardier was another. It looks like it had zero to do with the "C" Series jet, that Boeing doesn't even compete against and everything to do with getting a powerful buddy to destroy an up and coming competitor before they got out of control. It all backfired in Boeing's face when Airbus bought out the project and compounded Boeing's long term competition problem. It is also interesting that the Commerce Department disallowed using tariff punishment as a weapon to attack a company and not as a tool of making trade fairer. The Trumpiverse has been damaged. The rule of law has prevailed.

Negotiations over NAFTA are bogging down ahead of a major deadline

Negotiations over a new North American trade deal have hit a major snag, leaving White House officials increasingly uncertain over their ability to hit their May 18 deadline for securing congressional approval of a new deal before years end.

White House officials had been optimistic a deal could be reached soon, but continuing disagreements are now raising the risk of delays that make it more difficult for the U.S., Mexico and Canada to reach a deal.

Trump officials weigh 25 percent tax on imported cars in a bid to force concessions in NAFTA trade talks

In the final stages of negotiations for a new North American trade deal, U.S. officials are considering invoking national security considerations to impose new tariffs on imported vehicles.

In their efforts to reach a new agreement, the U.S., Canada and Mexico remain deadlocked over new rules for granting duty-free status to cars. Trump cited national security considerations in March when he called for tariffs on foreign-made steel and aluminum.

An incompetent POTUS will hurt the US economy. A totally clueless POTUS will drag the whole North American economy down with it.
