I would be apt to take this much more seriously if it was Harper that was guilty of plagiarism.

It simply is not.

He tells a speech-writer "Gimme a speech supporting this point of view", the speech-writer steals Howard's words, Harper delivers it in all innocence.

Simple as that.

Not Harper's fault, the issue will disappear within 24 hours.

OMG the Liberals are desperate! Bob Rae engaged in smear politics.....I am astonished.

umm ... didn't you tell me in another post that Harper is the man in command of his ship?

Same guy as whom? You mean the hired head-hunter? Yeah.....I know......so what?

And believe me, the guy steering the ship is named Harper..........

...thought so ;)

You obviously don't understand Newspeak. In Newspeak, all previous opinions and statements are overwritten by the currently acceptable statements and opinions. What was said last week no longer exists.

Much to my dismay I see NOT a majority but a `carbon copy of characters` much like the `Fools on the Hill`. No clear majority, not a respectable minority, just a whole lot of back room deals and we lose again.
Harpo has learned very well from Georgie, hasn't he? IMO we have a political crisis coming unlike anything in our history.

Some of the best ideas have come from minority governments.

I'd prefer no party get a blank check with less than 50% of the vote and that's what always happens.

I think Harper may remain in minority territory.
Slightly stronger but still a minority.
Could make the floor-crossers powerful in the future.
Maybe the dippers will close in on the Libs for official opposition.
Makes funding for the various parties that much more critical.

The leadership debates should be slightly more relevant.
If Dion or Harper melt down it could change everything.
Funding for the opposition is on the line.

I would bank on Harper melting down LOONG before Dion- but that's just me- oddly I think the French debate could be extra interesting just due to the recent backlash in Quebec, where the cons pretty much MUST gain ground to get their cherished (and hopefully impossible) majority

I heard another name for it ... but it's not quite so politically correct....

The Canadian Cons do not deserve a majority they are CLOSET BIGOTS AND THAT IS THE SECRET AGENDA. If they had their way they would perform lobotomies on people they do not agree with………nothing but a bunch of dull vindictive losers….

One thing I don't agree with is 'floor crossers'. If a liberal is elected and wants to turn conservative, there should be a byelection.

Why is no-one concerned about Gilles Duceppe's role in all of this?

The man is crafty and intelligent and will get enough seats to make the three parties that are being discussed wary.

Will/would he be wooed and what would he want in return?

And don't forget he is the most statesmanlike and the best debater of the lot !

We will see how the French debate goes this evening. It could be the difference between a majority or minority for the Conservatives. At the moment Duceppe is dropping in Quebec.

No disrespect intended.... Duceppe can walk in accompanied by trumpets and a chorus of Angels but if he doesn't field a candidate outside Quebec, how can the rest of Canada take him seriously? If he takes all the Tory votes he can, that's the best he'll ever do.

Wishful thinking by the Globe.

Ah, don't think so, Wally. The Globe is just about as right wing as your favourite paper; the National Post.

If I've made any spelling or grammar mistakes in this post, be sure to correct me.

Might be more votes than the Tories can handle.
