First, Harper had nothing to do with writing the speach, and second, its ancient history now...

So what, it was still stolen, he should at least apologize for his staffers ineptitude which seems to be quite common in the CPC ranks.

Plus, the context of the speech should be noted as well, Harper wanted us to go into that mess and have Canadians put at risk for no reason, what other wars does he plan to follow into?

You mean Harper didn't know he was giving an Australian speech? I don't believe it. It shows just how much respect Harper and his crowd have for Canadians.

First, the speech writer quit. Second, both speakers had the same point of view, no big deal. As I said this is ancient history now, no apology needed.

I see so it is okay to copy something and if it takes a few years to be caught you don't have to apologize.

I would be apt to take this much more seriously if it was Harper that was guilty of plagiarism.

It simply is not.

He tells a speech-writer "Gimme a speech supporting this point of view", the speech-writer steals Howard's words, Harper delivers it in all innocence.

Simple as that.

Not Harper's fault, the issue will disappear within 24 hours.

OMG the Liberals are desperate! Bob Rae engaged in smear politics.....I am astonished.

Not sure HOW much it means, but I was under the impression that during the last campaign Harper hired the same dude who got Howard elected. If that were true it might put and extra ripple on things

And seriously, I can hardly believe that someone hired as a speechwriter actually stole such a speech almost word for word.

Is this the "leadership" we're supposed to be seeing, if so it's kinda REAL crappy

Seriously??

That is too rich.

This should be a call for the abolition of talking points and buzzwords and advisers

Why do we elect a person to "lead" the country who can't even speak with their party, generate a common idea then take a few points down just to keep on track while presenting it publically?

I thought a Leader had some kind of vision, one that said Leader should be able to articulate by themselves without having help making it more "saleable"

Good ideas should speak for themselves- our politicians are by-and-large simply actors now, saying their lines the way they're supposed to

How this incident doesn't anger every thinking person in the country on some basic level is really confusing to me, it shows flat out that "leadership" is simply who can sell the most product- and anyone who knows about salesmanship (especially hard-sell) knows that the key is to make people "believe" they need a service which they in fact do not.

If that is leadership then that is NOT what the world needs right now

Much to my dismay I see NOT a majority but a `carbon copy of characters` much like the `Fools on the Hill`. No clear majority, not a respectable minority, just a whole lot of back room deals and we lose again.
Harpo has learned very well from Georgie, hasn't he? IMO we have a political crisis coming unlike anything in our history.
