the conservatives are too extreme for me, when belinda left them they had the right to be critical but they over-did it with the name-calling and the public declaration that she was a whore for power. The grewal case showed how greasy the liberals and and conservatives are, but for creating such a greasefest grewal takes top credit. I find the conservatives are the most adept at inundating government with an aura of untrustability and pettiness. And I remember Harper screaming at Chretien to take us to war with Iraq. Scary...

Belinda never really belonged with the conservatives anyways. She is more Liberal. That being said though if they would of elected her leader instead of Harper she may of been able to make the party more moderate and take advantage of the Gomery scandel, which Harper could not.

But we saw the tories true colours when she left, when the bloc sided with the liberals to end debate on budget and push for a vote and when the bloc supported same sex marriage law. The name calling, bad mouthing afterwards from Harper and his cronies just made the tories look like losers.

I read this thread and I fully support blue, he was the only one that made any sense.
However the fact is the Conservatives are too much for Canadians to handle. The new Conservative party was born from Alberta roots and Canadians cannot stand anything Albertan. Canadian's bitterly hate right wing Albertans, we are scary, backward, redneck racist cowboys, and that represents Harper/Bush and the conservatives, and so we will never take over the ottawa, end of story. The best the Conservatives can do is the official opposition, so their is no sense in trying.

what really gets me is that Harper is dissing the Liberals for making a deal with the Bloc when not two weeks before that HE was siding with the Bloc against the Liberals, can you say "hypocrite"?.

So let me get this straight.

It's okay to collaborate with seperatists to defeat the government and force an (unpopular) election when such an election would likely:

1. strengthen the hand of sovereigntists in Quebec.
2. increase the likelyhood of the CPC forming the next government (at least according to polls over the period of time in question)


But it is not okay to work with the seperatists to pass budget legislation that has broad multipartisan support in mostregions of the country.

Oh give me a break, Martin and every damn cabinet minister was all over the news when the bloc and conservatives voted against the budget saying exactly the same things. Do you even know why they are called opposition parties? They are not supposed to make the governments agenda easy, are they. That is not a question, it is a statement.

Opposition Parties: Political parties who are supposed to oppose the government and not assist them in their agenda.

If your #1 point is true, why have the liberals and the Bloc voted three times as many times together as the Conservatives and the Bloc? In other words, why does the separatist Bloc party like the Liberal policies and platforms? Hmmmmm?????????
