It isn't false though. The CPC policies are considerably to the right of where polls show Canadians to be, and moderates within the party (not just a few MPs) have been leaving in droves since the takeover of the PC party.
Meanwhile, as it's policies and the antics of the party "leadership" have marginalized the party from Canada's mainstream, the reaction of those within the party has been to lash out at the electorate they should be trying to woo and to become even more Alberta-centric in both the policies they promote and their rhetoric in the media and on internet forums.
Not a lot of Ontarians are going to be convinced to support Harper when they are constantly assaulted by screams of, "Those bastards in Ontario," and not a lot of people are going to vote for somebody who implies that they are corrupt every time he opens his fat gob.
