But seriously. What does it matter what Europe is doing? Why do we want to emulate them? Canada's not "like" Europe anyways. Canada's closer to the UK if anything. And culturally, Canada is very similar to the US, more similar to any other country in the world. I've lived in England and the cultural differences between England and Canada are far greater than the US and Canada, at least in terms of day-to-day living.

But what's true about the US and England is that both countries ignore Canada!

We understand Blue. We know how much the Left sneers at Alberta. They make fun of cowboys and call you "rednecks." They derisively talk about the "Calgary School" and they say that your politics are un-Canadian. Everybody knows that Alberta is out of place in Canada.

But we certainly would appreciate Alberta here in America. We think Alberta is a wonderful state, er, province. Tell yourself honestly - honestly now - where do you really belong? I think you and I both know the answer. :wink:

We would welcome you with open arms if you decided to become part of our great country (and you and I both know its inevitable). Then you can finally belong with people who truly understand you. Oh heck, let's not beat around the bush - We love Alberta down here in America! Just LOVE you guys!

Its just best that you move on. Think about Canada for a minute. Now, rid of that troublesome conservative state, er province, they can elect liberals and socialists forever. It's better for them too, Blue! You'll be doing everyone a favor! Alberta wins, America wins, and Canada - especially - wins! It's a win-win-win situation!

Don't tempt me,errrr us. There is some of that sentiment, no doubt, but not very much right now in Alberta. The thought that is getting more and more push is the separatism push, something that has been of great benefit to Quebec throughout the years. Only difference is, Quebec does not have the economy that Alberta has, in fact Quebec is a net recepient of transfer payments from Alberta and the other have provinces. Over the past few years, Alberta has shifted its trade patterns from East West with the rest of Canada, to more North South with the US, which has the markets for the rest of the world. Our north/south road system has been improved, still needs more, and the US main railway is just across the border, so that provides access to ports on the US west coast.

Will this happen? Who knows. What I do know, though, is that the next premier of Alberta will no doubt be fiscally and socially conservative, probably more so than Ralph, and coupled with this and the history of Alberta, things will be interesting in Alberta. A lot of us feel that our country has left us, not the other way around.

And thanks for the invite, we love you guys too!!

Guess you haven't seen the recent polls, have you. What shift, even more to the right? I know the left wing lives in its own little world, but to deny reality is really out there.

Sure you are. Unless you are comparing the Canadian political spectrum to some other one, the centre in Canada is simply the centre in Canada. There is no universal standard on what is left and what is right.

Unless you mean the centre is left of where you are.

I'am back for another round, and I see I gain some American friends on this board. Thank's for the support Although I was born in Alberta and like many Albertans I have long ancestral link to America back to 1701 and like many Albertans our great grandfathers help made that country what it is today. So yes, like many Albertans, I'am more American at heart than Canadian.
So now to all you left wing socialist out there, I read your blogs and found myself continuely amused
Frist of all let me say there are way more of us right wingers in the world (and I mean throughout the whole world) than you believe, many of us are working hard and making money and just don't have the time to be spinning and spreading liberal lies and polices that have continued time and time again to fail.
The new world is going to the right, you leftes can deny it, protest it all you want but you will not succeed.
Alberta works because it is a right wing conservative state, and it is one of the most succesfful places in North America not to mention the world, and Reverned with all my respect it is not just because of oil, (Sask has alot of oil and isl still a have not land).
Texas still works and is a success no more oil there!, Nevada works and is very successful no oil there.
America works is still with all the wars that country fights (God bless them) is still the most wealthest and greatest county on Earth. And as longs the Europeans contuine in their sorry socialist state, they will continue to slide downward until they can no longer support themselves.
But that's find America will continue to globilize and the people throughout the world will continue to assmulate into the American dream. Europe will go the way of the dodo bird find with me.
Alberta will continue to succeed, the rest of Canada will continue to fumble, and seek after us.
