I don't know anybody that detests money. I do know lots of people (myself included) that don't place a high value on it. The younger generations in particular are not driven by pursuit of a dollar. Older generations see that as laziness. They are wrong of course.

If I can risk being serious for a bit. I think I'll take the chance. Youthfulness is it's own treasure and money takes a while to capture the attention of the young. Older generations remember incompletely their own youth. They are both right but from different ends of the life tunnel. What do you think about that? And I agree with your approach to money because we both know the real stuff is priceless eh. Nice talking with you Cannuck. Have a nice day.

Since I want to retire where it is warm areas of, say Mexico, how much is the younger generation going to charge me for a 'cube of ice cut out of James Bay'? Then the water down there has drinking water that is the cleanest in the world and then' other water' that is part of the service industry. The West Coast has a current that would take garbage out to where the floating plastic is and anything from Japan will end up there also so it is a perfect dump for the world and being in the doldrums it won't be floating away anywhere.

Honest money would be making 5% more than it cost me to move the ice from point 'A' to point 'B' for the ice. Being the general contractor in charge of creating housing for the millions escaping the ice you make your money, then turn the 'keys' over to the 'State' and they take in 5% more that it costs them to run the place. The tenants aren't poor and a grass hut come with $10K worth on new electronics. Need it for all the new VR games coming out. I'm going to guess the guys on PitCarn Island have a distinct advantage when it comes to the term 'Pirate'. Good luck in safely landing the long-boat on a calm day let alone during some 'weather'. all based on data collected during such weather and the sailing dynamics of the original dingy in use back in the golden year of Pirates.
The menu could be quite long in that world as well as the one that gives you a choice of VR Worlds and users would get paid for time spent on the R&D side of the counter.
Some assembly required.

Whatever you say...

Thanks. I posted a video, a few days ago, on education that spoke of this and that also impressed you. I do understand that your generation has been all about wealth accumulation. That's one of the reasons that your generation is the wealthiest generation in the history of Canada. Despite that, you arent a particularly happy group. The younger generations see that and want to try a different approach.

So perhaps you will fill us all in on your status as an educator/scientist?

stalker! Why do/would you care? Surely you're not claiming a person's expressed opinion is a reflection of/on their job/employment.

You appear to really like labels
.

which one(s)? Is there a particular label you're having difficulty with/concern over?

Is Popular Science beyond question as a source of the right kind of thinking?
Worst Drought In 1,000 Years Forecasted For The U.S. | Popular Science

please elaborate. What's a right kind of thinking... what's a wrong kind of thinking? Is your right/wrong LABELING an avenue for you to introduce morality into this discussion? Is there right and/or wrong in, "otherwise reasonable people doubting science"?

More drivel from the C&P king. Do your own google or read the links that other people people post. I am not about to reinvent the wheel for you.

standard taxi deflection routine to being challenged to support your "less than reasonable person doubt of science"! Same ole, same ole taxi! Forever doubting science but never, ever in a willing position to substantiate that cast doubt.

Wow what a smooth but childish way of not answering a question, ever thought of running for office?

I would substitute factual in the place of prevailing. The fact that present scientific alleged findings prevail does not in any way imply factualization excepting in those cases where hard tangible items such as rustproof spikes, puncture proof tires and super absorbant diapers can be had and actual hands can be laid upon. Prevailing science in no quanlitative way is a proof of fact and has no more lasting power than todays top brand of toothpaste. These are of course just my opinions but they carry great weight in the international scientific community, and no I cannot comment any further about that great weight for fear of loss of tenure at one of the worlds leading academic hangouts.

since when does science deal in 'proof"? This may explain much of your expressed confusion! Prevailing is exactly that - tentative, provisional and reflecting on evidence... but not final... but subject to change in the presence of a 'better theory or new/updated evidence' to challenge the prevailing science/theory.

wow! What a smooth but childish way of deflecting from the answers provided to your questions. What office do you hold?

Same father land if he knows who the one group was that is extinct as far as I know. Nudists so that brings up the question of looks, were they slim and trim of porkers like Churchill. I'm thinking 'not porkers', extinct just the same.

Why the 'Can I have some.' look in your words?

When has the demographics of a generation been scientific?? :) :)

Don't be so silly JLM. Canada has an entire department geared to gathering statistical data, much of it based on demographics. It's called Stats Canada. You should check it out sometime. Do you have any more silly comments to make tonight?

I think we all know how invalid statistics can be- just as suspect as the guy compiling them!! Go get some education! :) :)

Perhaps if you had a better understanding, you wouldn't continually make yourself look so silly.

As much as I'm enjoying your silliness tonight, I gotta head out to work but please, keep it coming.

You might want to try quitting talking through your hat. Only an idiot demonstrates his ignorance to the whole wide world! :) :)

I wouldn't call you an idiot. I think you're just getting on in years and the world is passing you by. Technology and science can be a little overwhelming when change excellerates beyond ones ability to keep up. Hang in there though, I do find you entertaining.

Perhaps if you'd reword that question it might save you some embaressment. Science is the method best able to prove or disprove a theory. Fer instance if science did not prove the metalurgical strength of steel half of the bag of nails you bought would bend like plastic and the other half would shatter like glass. Science ,the method, certainly aims for proof, you might be confident buying a bag of provisional spikes or tentative bolts. The tentative provisonal position does not build working machines, only proof will provide tangible utility. Your claim of my expressed confusion is provisional and tentative while your own words prove you to be a deck of more or less than fifty two.

When I hear "Scientists have discovered" I immediately wonder who's agenda
they are supporting, is it pro this or anti that. Today most science is in some
way corrupted by money and who paid for their opinion. Even governments are
in on the action, companies wanting to use finding for their own lobby efforts.
No scientists are the latest in the tarnished reputation crowd. I am suspect of
every finding. I like hearing about new discoveries I just don't trust scientists
to be just scientists anymore they have an economic or political agenda now

Technology and science can be a wonderful thing. Lots of lives are saved by it and other lives are made easier. Unfortunately some "science and technology" is just a money grab and detrimental to our well being and health. One example is the cell phone which was a wonderful invention which probably saved a few lives and was an asset to people in business and people involved in travel. But then texting entered the picture which still wasn't too bad in that you could leave messages for a person to receive at his/her convenience. But it didn't take long for it to morph into mindless clutter on the airwaves, not to mention killing motorists. Then there came all the other crap to the point where we have an entire generation glued to the F**king gadget 24/7 and missing out on other more healthy aspects of life. My being entertaining is beside the point, but if you find me so, that probably just reinforces many people's view that you have a candle or two flickering! :)

science like stats can usually be manipulated to make whatever conclusion one desires
