I hope you are wrong. What we need is less religion and more intelligent, critical thought.

Yours is a forlorn hope. Christianity is sweeping sub-Saharan Africa, and is making huge inroads in East Asia. The most vibrant form of Christianity can be found in Africa.

Christianity originated in the Middle East. Migrated to Europe and the Americas. And is now becoming the major religion of large parts of the Third World.

Christianity is dead in Europe, but Islam has a future there. Christianity will shrink in North America because North Americans don't believe in anything, even themselves. The Middle East will remain Islamic or its head will be cut off.

Dead in Western Europe,
but the Orthodox Church has been making a slow come back in Eastern Europe - simply because when you are at rock bottom there is only up.

Even then one has to imagine if this is not due to secularization but rather the administration of the Catholic and Protestant Church, both of which have either been inflitrated (John Paul and Ratzinger aren't traditional Catholics by any stretch of the imagination) or forced to tone down communialism (i.e., go a little too far and become political and you can count those tax exemptions goodbye).

I know myself, my local church is practically empty because the Pastor (very typical of Protestantism these days) is preaching acceptance of homosexuality and gay marriage; nothing wrong with that per see, but it's the exact same message that mainstream government promotes and thus the Church, with its archaic presentation and refusal to adopt contemporary technology, can't beat the government in that regard. The most successful churches in Europe and even North America tend to promote radical political views and the moderate churches are often left out in the cold.

Nope,
Latino Immigrants practice a version of Catholicism similar to Poland, where they'll do plenty of vice but still remain Catholic because society expects it. Then we also have Mormon polygamists who have some of the highest birthrates in the world.

I would convert too if western missionaries were giving out free stuff!
Yup, all those decadent, self righteous white busy bodies taking advantage of the poor and destitute with false hope and promises just to make themselves feel better about themselves.

Ok hold up my dad and mom are coming I'll be back on in like 1 min. please don't leave yet. You canadians are coming to be pretty cool people.
Umm.. you're 12.... and you have to get off because your "Mom and Dad are coming"??
Am I to understand, then, that you shouldn't even be on here..?..

I guess my point is: People are using the term "third world" wrong. Historically, the term just means a country not aligned with Western capitalism or Soviet communism. I don't really get the pejorative nature of it.
Also… "Third World' refers to the economically underdeveloped countries particularly in the Middle East, South Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Oceania, considered as an entity with common characteristics, such as poverty, high birthrates, and economic dependence on the advanced countries.

Doesn't mean a thing,
your American schools give passing marks and bell curve said grade into A's to illiterate gangbangers.

Sad but true.

If they don't they are accused of things they are not. Trotz is very correct.
