Why didn’t Trudeau want to link the Fort Mac fire to climate change?

I think the bottom line is the Fort Mac fire has to be linked to Climate change. When was the last time there was a huge fire at Fort Mac early in May? When was the last time the weather was this hot early in May?

Records broken are about 100 years old so I would guess 100 years ago?

Last week, temperatures pushed past the mid 30s Celsius in Alberta, which is unusual for May in northern Canada.

Yup, but not unheard off.

It's a shot and a miss.....zoooooooooooooooooooooooooooom

1949, was that because of "Climate change" also?

BTW Alberta isn't northern Canada.

I wasn't very old in '49 so probably wasn't paying close attention! :) :)

Well, was it? You're attributing the temps in Alberta right now to climate change, what about back then? What was the reason for the high temps back then? How come it took 0ver 65 years to have temps as high?

Oh course, climate nutsies claim WW2 spiked CO2 to explain that gerryh.

Yeah... That desperate.

It may or may not have been due to climate change. I would hazard a guess that climate change is ongoing. I doubt if it's officially noted until it exceeds a certain amount. It possibly does a lot of fluctuating up and down too. Has anyone indicated how large of an area is involved before it's designated as climate change. I would suggest there is climate change right across Canada this year- from SK west it's likely up and from MB east it's likely down. I think Ottawa broke 20C for the first time this year today.

Yeah, luckily climate is now back to the 8000 year mean average after being at the coldest point in those 8000 years.

I think before we can have a sensible discussion on climate change we have to define what is climate change? Strictly speaking I'd say it's an ongoing phenomenum or however the f**k it's spelt. I hate that word!

You should be a meteorologist, Pete! :) :)

The buffalo didn't pick that specific route just because the Indians started hunting them. In this case, follow the food rather than the money.

Ya need to make up your mind in this discussion before you can support broad and sweeping legislation that will impact people directly.. and yes, a definition of exactly what is climate change would be nice, especially as it relates to human induced climate change.

The run-of-the-mill tards lean on throwing around catch phrases and have no concept of what the phenomenon is supposed to represent

From a strict interpretation, you are correct JLM. There has been climate change since the time the earth first acquired an atmosphere. Back in the early days quite a few species died off when a new poison gas became released into the atmosphere (the gas was O2 btw). But some adapted and flourished. So yes, there has always been climate change. What you and the kool-aid brigade are usually referring to inappropriately as climate change is man-made climate change which has not been proven and more than likely is minimal impact at best.

I don't think there's any doubt that climate change is involved, what most people aren't sure of is how much. I believe those who claim it's NOT involved are just "whistling past the graveyard".

Ski provided an excellent example of climate change in action... So again, how do you define and measure human induced climate change... Moreover, without having that definition and understanding, exactly what is the point of instituting all kinds of taxes to combat something that you can't even define?

Hell, in your province, there are a myriad of carbon/fuel and ecotaxes ~ do you really need more?... Have these taxes altered climate change for the better?
