Why didn’t Trudeau want to link the Fort Mac fire to climate change?

Just a lot of talk by the Libs.

Goodale is a useless idiot.

Where is the infrastructure money, when is it coming out ? These scum were screaming when the Conservatives were in power asking for infrastructure spending but now where are these Liberal scum?

The useless PM should have visited some of the evacuation places like Lac le Biche, he didn't have to go to Ft Mc to show his support and concern, but he is a useless pos and is interested in seeing the Oil Sands shut down.

How so is Goodale useless? There's lots of time for Trudeau to visit the disaster sites - probably months!!! No need for him to get in the way and distracting WORKING people who are trying to do a job. I'm sure he's being apprised on a blow by blow basis!

Highway 1 and 16, Port of Prince Rupericht, Edmonton, Regina. The ActionPlan is still alive and kicking but now Trudeau doesn't have $100bbl+.

You've lost me there, Pete.

Opening Western Canada to Asia is still the prime infrastructure goal Trudeau is trumpeting. It's not new but because Harper didn't ram anything down hippy throats, debt and taxrs will pay for it rather than resources.

Global warming seen as a lit match in northern forests

Scientists have been warning for decades that climate change was a threat to the immense tracts of forest that ring the Northern Hemisphere, with rising temperatures, drying trees and earlier melting of snow contributing to a growing number of wildfires.

The near-destruction of Fort McMurray last week by a fire that sent almost 90,000 people fleeing for their lives is grim proof that the threat to these vast stands of spruce and other resinous trees, collectively known as the boreal forest, is real. And scientists say a large-scale loss of the forest could have profound consequences for efforts to limit the damage from climate change.

In retrospect, it is clear that the northern Alberta town, was particularly vulnerable as one of the largest human outposts in the boreal forest. But the destruction of patches of this forest by fire, as well as invasions by insects surviving warmer winters, has occurred throughout the hemisphere.

In Russia, about 70 million acres burned in 2012, new statistics suggest, much of that in isolated areas of Siberia. Alaska, home to most of the boreal forest in the United States, had its second-largest fire season on record in 2015, with 768 fires burning more than 5 million acres.

Global warming is suspected as a prime culprit in the rise of these fires. The warming is hitting northern regions especially hard: Temperatures are climbing faster there than for the Earth as a whole, snow cover is melting prematurely, and forests are drying out earlier than in the past. The excess heat may even be causing an increase in lightning, which often sets off the most devastating wildfires.

Why are the governments not blaming certain "non causative" factors, such as "Global warming",
and like Alberta, turning down free help?
"Canada wildfire curbs oil supply keeping prices stable"
Canada wildfire curbs oil supply keeping prices stable
Oh...I don't know...

from the above link:
"Massive wildfires in Canada's oil-rich Alberta Province have resulted in an estimated 1.6 million barrels per day (bpd) crude supply shortfall, pushing global disruptions to 2.5 million bpd since January"

...and now from the "ALL heroics wasted like taxes" department:
see where all the wars are at the link.

OMG!!

Causation related to both global warming and climate change... That's doubly extra worser bad.

The cost of climate change..

Fort McMurray wildfire could trigger spike in insurance rates

Insurance companies forced to fork over billions of dollars to cover damages from the Fort McMurray wildfire will remain financially sound despite their enormous losses, but some homeowners will likely face spikes in their premiums.

The Bank of Montreal has predicted the devastating wildfire could cost insurers as much as $9 billion while Moody's has estimated a total around $5 billion. Whatever the final tally, it will likely be the costliest natural disaster in Canadian history.

"We are seeing an uptick in severe weather events so it's kind of on the greater scale on how that could impact."

So now rising insurance rates are no longer caused by corporate greed but climate change? You are a laugh riot!

Seems pretty simple to me -- every time the insurance company pays out it costs their customers more money.

They've always been influenced by climate change.

It's not just Alberta: Fires fuelled by warming climate are increasing

Alberta's unusually early and large fire is just the latest of many gargantuan fires on an Earth that's grown hotter with more extreme weather.

Earlier this year, large wildfires hit spots on opposite ends of the world — Tasmania and Oklahoma-Kansas. Last year, Alaska and California pushed the U.S. to a record 10 million acres burned. Massive fires hit Siberia, Mongolia and China last year and Brazil's fire season has increased by a month over the past three decades.

It got so bad that in 2009, Australia added a bright red "catastrophic" to its fire warning index.

"The warmer it is, the more fires we get," said Mike Flannigan, a professor of wildland fire at the University of Alberta.

Last week, temperatures pushed past the mid 30s Celsius in Alberta, which is unusual for May in northern Canada.
