With unemployment being as high as it is there are no second jobs to be had

sure there are, if someone can survive full time working McD's somebody can work 3-4 hours to put their kids through daycare.

EXACTLY!! That's why Trudeau & Mulcair are soooo out to lunch and why Harper, while not perfect, is the best of the 3 to guide us through whatever is to come. T&M figure they can control things; heck, Mulcair has stated that he can stop the war in the ME for heavens sake (by haulting arms sales and stopping the funding of ISIS) - gez, all by himself??? Seriously??

Sigh.....politics!
Hasn't Harper guided into this economic situation? He's had ten years attempt to avoid the position we find the nation faced with and done nothing except obey the international money markets when he might have been able to soften the outcome for Canadians instead of protect the interests of those who are responsible for the looming disaster. Of course that is just my opinion, maybe he being such a small wheel in such a big machine he really had no alternative except to obey the gear train. I think that is most likely and for all his bravado he's just a pretty door stop afterall.

Canada's economy has been slow due to global conditions. We have been better than most countries.
Our economy will continue to be slow. That's what's scary about running a huge deficit. The economy will not be able to sustain such a large debt.
Canada's economy is dependent on global conditions just like every other country. There is nothing any government can do to make it better no matter what they promise.

If that is the case then what is the point of having a government? Just to chaperone economic decline? Make sure we all obey the traffic rules while we navigate the highway to hell? Keep the seats in parliament warm in case someone with an idea shows up? What stops government from making improvements? Is there some outside force equivalent to gravity that keeps them from performing the jobs they swore to undertake? Yes there is DB it's called The World Order which has imposed bad times to hasten thier New World Order into the hallowed halls of power. Don't be silly DB that's not an accredited opinion.

And it will come when the investments made by PRIVATE SECTOR entities feel they can get a return on their investments. Governments CANNOT - you hear me? - CANNOT create jobs nor are they supposed to. That's not their job. Governments can only pave the way for companies/businesses to invest and be inventive by ensuring that regulations make sense and that taxes are reasonable. THAT'S what governments are supposed to do. To say that "government" will create jobs is disingenuous and quite frankly a lie. If governments are creating jobs its in the public sector and you and I will be paying for a larger government which, in turn doesn little for the economy, I don't care where you live!

to further
like the banker funded bolshevic revolution where the investment was paid back in blood
governments exist to pay certain people back - the criminals
most PRIVATELY OWNED central banks and the IRS is a good example
not the people that pay for the government
even sicker here is we are in debt when we have a federally owned bank MANDATED to lend canada its OWN money for capital costs at no interest
but NOOOOOOOO.......
we borrow from the criminal debt based international lawn sharks
at massive unpayable interest

governments create PROBLEMS not JOBS

while i agree mostly about government not being able to create jobs
i mean look at the half billion spent training isis people for jobs as terrorists
they got what, FIVE graduates?
who then gave all thier free arms and toyota trucks to the enemy

governments create problems not jobs

then the government creates jobs for itself ONLY (sic) to fix these problems it has created
then they have to spend every dime they get in the budget NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM(s)
so that they get more money in the next budget

we are just here to pay for the problems they create and TREAT as carreers

@ Dave's Mom
Then i guess ICELAND doesn't exist right
"Top Economists: Iceland Did It Right … And Everyone Else Is Doing It Wrong"
Top Economists: Iceland Did It Right ... And Everyone Else Is Doing It Wrong Washington's Blog

the problem is if one votes the PARTY LINE or by their provably non-sensickal religious ideas
and not by the issues and facts
one automatically concedes democracy altogether
no offence, just sayin

You forgot to supply the (better) alternative which should be where your info comes from as it is so much more factual than anybody else's references. How about this site?

Donald Trump Sets Off Firestorm With Comments on 9-11 Terrorist Attacks - The Gateway Pundit
“”When you talk about George Bush, I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time,” Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg TV."
from the link mentioned by megahurtz
the reference is bloomberg for you non readers

which is why Meg is wining
notice he couldn't actually refute the information quoted
PATHETIC, you sure put the BUTT in rebuttal that time chum

What were you saying about how just because you have a majority, it doesn't make it right? lol
The Vatican call for more than 66% before it is considered to be a 'fair vote' where 51% works in the rest of the world. You would hope the voting would be limited to voting on local issues by local people rather than Canada voting on what happens in Syria or the Ukraine or any other Nation except our own. If you vote at home then you should also be able to vote at the UN.

Actually I was referencing these words as it would seem to be an 'off the shelf' kind of site. (not trying to promote that they had an exclusive interview either. As for the comment I would say it was a bit luke warm but at least he is saying he doesn't follow the 'herd' as far as what really happened.

Trump would work quite nicely as America's Putin and let him rule for as many terms as he can get elected for.
Do Americans want a man like Putin as their president? - English pravda.ru

Do Americans want a man like Putin as their president? - English pravda.ru

this isn't infowars.
It is factual, where it comes from is not really an issue, what was said is the important part. The part you missed completely I may add.

The tards always love to reference 'the tyranny of the majority ' when they don't like the result, but have the ideological bent of a successful expression of democracy when the majority votes the way they like.

Sure, it's sad and pathetic, but the entertainment value of the never-ending whining is worth it's weight in gold

Most people will not get a second job and expecting that to happen is plainly naive.

Well, that's what they are. This thread has been particularly entertaining I must say. You're being criticized by and individual that has admitted to feeling "disadvantaged" (in Canada of all places), a self professed "farmer" that admits to having his land handed to him by his inlaws and an ex cab driver who laughing drives a truck and claims to own his own fleet. Keep up the good work.

As for the OP, Canada's economy is under performing because we elected poor managers. It's really that simple

How does that bring down the rest of the planet or is Canada under sanctions as we are going through the same hardships we imposed onto Russia over the Crimea incident?
