see that blue island on the map, its sunny right now, with some clouds floating around.
And by the way, with so much rain, how come we can see the mountains almost
all the time.
People who don't live here have some goofy idea that all of b.c. is the same,
just rain, do some investigating and figure out how it really is

From victoria to port hardy there is quite a difference in climate, from
vancouver to prince rupert there is quite a difference in climate, and that
applies for much of the province.
My daughter lives on the west coast, again a different climate than here in
courtenay, we know how it works in b.c. others don't seem to 'get it'.

Alberta is a wonderful and beautiful Province.. from the prairies, to the foothills to the Rockies!! That's right, Alberta has the Rockies.. BC just has the Pacific Mountain Range..

That pic of the bald flatland reminded me of a story from my youth before it was misspent.
A kid from the logging camp I grew up in (probably 5 at the time) went to the prairies with his mom and grandma by train. Waking up in the morning somewhere east of the rockies he looks out the window and there is nothing but millions of acres of nothing but acres. He says to Grandma "Look Grandma my dad has been here and cut down every god damm tree".

Home is where you make it and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I've worked
in BC years ago (Logging around Salmon Arm, & Exploration about where BC &
AB & the NWT meet on a map) and it was beautiful in its own way, but the pic
that Petros posted above pulls at my heart strings. It's truely beautiful in my eyes
as a Prairie Boy!

With that in mind, for those from BC, I get where you defend BC & its beauty, as
that is home to you. For me it's open spaces with big skys, and river valleys that
open up to lakes and rivers, and the forests to the north (I've spend years in P.A.),
and the crops waving in the wind.

Someone from NFLD will defend their home in debate with all their heart when all
I see is broken rock with trees clinging to them (make'n for shyte farm land), but
that's their home and I get that they see true beauty in it.

Duck Mountain...35 mins fromn Yorkton. 10 from my farm and nice view from my side of the river valley.

Not bad skiing either...

I suspect it took a lot longer than 35 mins when she lived there. They moved to BC in the late forties.
I was only there once. Saw both the farms she grew up on and snow on the ground in May. Didn't see anything steeper than a bunny hill but we were a little south and east of town.

There are hidden gems everywhere. I like some parts and aspects of BC but all I'm really missing here is salt water.

Say yeah, from just below the C Train.. LOL

I parked across the street under that huge street sign and crossed over to take that pic.. love that view.

We had a thread about this a long time ago - the real reason why British Columbia is such a great place is because it produced three of the best collegiate lax players of all time:

Tom Marechek & the Gait twins. What a lineup that was back in 1990!!!
