Which idiot was it who got the ball rolling to denigrate the Father of our country?

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me, even today. It sure would be nice if the natives could live together with us, just as a hundred other ethnicities have come to do, instead of wasting their lives without purpose out in the boonies doing nothing but getting drunk and fighting.

It's too bad there's a perception they are mostly like that while nothing could be further from the truth.
Read up on Clarence Louie! And there's many more like him right in the area where I live!

Have you ever been to a reserve? No, not all of them are like that. But all too many are. These reserves were not set up with economic viability in mind. It was presumed back then all they needed was a little land for their shacks and tents where they could hunt and fish. We'd ship them some beef and blankets now and then and we'd all be good. Nobody thought they'd want jobs - or electricity and running water and central heat and wifi and phones.

Every white municipality of any size in this country was set up because there was an economic reason for it being there. There is no such reason for the reservations being where they are. Many are far from any kind of economy or resources which could employ more than a fraction of the people on them. And many, most, are too small, with only a few hundred people, to attract or sustain such an economy. The results are predictable, regardless of the racial or ethnic makeup of the people involved.

Okay. I read it. It says you don't know what you're talking about.
But I didn't need that information. I had already figured that out.

Convention on Genocide

From your link:

(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

What about inter-generational trauma caused by widespread physical, emotional, psychological, or physical abuse at the schools?

What about the forced sterilization of indigenous women against their will?

What about forcibly separating children from their indigenous communities to place them in English or French communities?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_genocide

The Indian Residential Schools Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada concluded that the Canadian Indian residential school system "can best be described as 'cultural genocide.'"[

From the Reconciliation Commission you described earlier.

Maybe we should raise our military defence budget so that this never happens to us.

Do we not borrow and spend enough?

Well, It really depends on if you don't mind taking the chance of being culturally exterminated. Its not something you leave in the hands of others to choose. Maybe we have a responsibility to adequately defend ourselves.

Personally, I think that several of the Disney Dwarf's names are highly offensive, and Disneyland should be dismantled and all statues of Walt destroyed...

Grumpy- making fun of people with anger management issues.

Sleepy- ridiculing people with narcolepsy.

Bashful- Insulting those with social anxiety issues.

Sneezy- Mocking people with allergies.

Dopey- Bulliying people with learning disabilities.

And what about the Three Blind Mice?? This whole Nursery Rhyme was designed to make fun of the visually impaired!!
Not only that but ol' Walt was deeply anti-Semitic. Antifa needs to tear down Disneyland and Disney World and assault everyone who is there because they're obviously nazis.

Northern Ontario,
For the last several summers we have had an influx of Natives from the Northern James Bay reserves that get flooded out.
They stay the summer and go back when their places dries-up.... More and more decide to stay all year around...
They generally keep to themselves....
In our park, by the river there is a children playground with slides, swings, etc... and a water park where the kids can cool off on hot days.

The first few years I noticed that more and more of the kids ...white and red... would play together while the mothers just watched...

This year I saw quite a few native women and whites chatting in a friendly way....while their kids played

Maybe that is what MacDonald had in mind with residential schools....to integrate the children first...
I have no idea how he should have done it, but obviously, forcing people into it doesn't work....

Shouldn't a person be judged by the standards in place AT THE TIME he/she lived?

When you hate white people, You don't let minor details like that get in the way of you're racist crusade against white culture.

Cultural genocide does not require the physical elimination of the people.

Then it' not really genocide, is it?

I sure do get a kick out of you assholes that take random words, attach them and then pretend they make sense.

Lemme ask you, seeing how MacDonald didn't promote the teaching of native food prep in the res schools, is he to be charged with culinary genocide?.. How about culinary algicede?... Makes about as much sense.

As for the balance of your sad rants, please refer to the sage advice Gerry offered. I'd wager that there are many here that will extend teh same sentiment

Nobody is allowed to have an opinion that gerryd doesn't approve of otherwise, it's fukk off to somewhere else. It happens to people who have a closed mind and think their way is the only way.

Ooooo! A right wing snowflake. Read the definition of genocide as defined by the UN charter of human rights. Cultural genocide is when you take away a groups language, spirituality, identity. The buffalo were slaughtered to starve the natives into submission. In BC, the Columbia River system was dammed and one of the world's largest salmon fishery was destroyed for the same reason. I find your complete lack of empathy and your attempts to white wash history disturbing, to say the least.

Modern alt left view of history with no basis in reality.

It's too bad there's a perception they are mostly like that while nothing could be further from the truth.

Right where you live. Me too. THe problem is when you get outside of the urbanized areas. There is no reason for many of them to be where they are. No jobs, no future in the 21st century.

Aren't many of the reserves situated on the some of the best agricultural land in the country?

Then they should get of their a$$ and move themselves and their family to where there are jobs and a future.

They need to start asking themselves, what's more important, their children's future, or their cultural past.
