When is enough going to be enough?

I believe it is written in the Bible "An Eye for an eye", I think he should have been put in with the pedophiles and let the general population deal with it. It costs me how much a year to keep these people in jails getting fed 3 meals a day, clothing, tv, phone priveliges, I on the other hand have to pay for my meals, my entertainment, Oh yeah and the roof over my head. Lets get real and start making the punishments fit the crimes.
The average sentence means absolutely nothing as their are so many variables. A guy with a spotless record vs. a guy who has a record running rampant with violence. This guy doesn't sound anywhere near average. I would say sustained violence on your own wife for three is within about the top 2 percentile of viciousness. Let's just say he caught her screwing three of the neighbours, he still wouldn't be justified in what he did.
Who cares?
As long as you can understand the concept that it's possible to discuss one's opinion on what should be the consequence for attempted murder and not keep answering with what is the current consequence, I have no issue personally with any topic changes.
Actually, at this point, I think I'd almost prefer it.
