I am not an audiophile but I like an old ballad called, Farewell to Nova Scotia.

Aye, and 'tis the ballad for those who are from away who wish they were at where they were from.

Farewell to Nova Scotia, your sea-bound coast,
Let your mountains dark and dreary be.
For when I am far away on the briny ocean tossed,
Will you ever heave a sigh or a wish for me?

I don't know if this will work or not - haven't tried it before so this could be a bad post. If it works - it's my favourite song of all time. Looks like it didn't work but I'll post anyway and see what happens in the end.

Yes, I woke up, turned on the radio by the bed, and heard the news, and began
to cry, we had many records by him, and definitely appreciated his great talent
in 'song writing'. I was a young teenager then, and devastated by his death,
and couldn't understand how sometone could lead such a tragic life, when he
had so much, (at least I thought so at the time).

A couple more of my favourites are by Roy Acuff- "The Wabash Cannonball" and "Willie Roy the Crippled Boy" and many of Johnny Cash, including "I Still Miss Someone", "Don't Forget to Give my Love to Rose" and "Send a picture of Mother if You Can".

My ones are these:
YouTube - Busta Rhymes Feat Mariah Carey - I Know What You Want
and
YouTube - Powerman 5000 - When Worlds Collide
and a Russian one with the lyrics -
Under wheels of Love:Eve knew it, and so did Adam,The wheels of love ride right over us,And every back has got the traces of the track,We lie down, like the brushwood, under the wheels of love.Under the wheels of love…Under the wheels…Morning and night, night and day,Going home from work, and while doing your shopping,Unless you are a slow one,Unless you are a failure,Be cheerful,And be confident. Under the wheels of love, Christ, Lenin and Mahomet knew this - The wheels of love ride towards the light.Chingis-khan and Hitler bathed in blood,But they also got coiled onto the wheels of love. Morning and night, night and day,Going home from work, and while doing your shopping,The wheels will catch up with you, and you are nothing compared to them

Another dandy by Johnny Cash..........You tube + Ballad of Ira Hayes - Google Search

All nice.
I also like Marty Robbins very much, went to see him in Vancouver, at the QE
'Roses Cantina', and others, don't remember if that is the actual title, don't
think so. Very long song

You're thinking of "El Paso"- it was the number one song for 10 or 12 weeks in the fall of '58. Another dandy was "North to Alaska" by Johnny Horton at the top of the charts for weeks in '59. He died tragically in a car accident about 1960.

Yes, that's it, thank you. Yes, North to Alaska was a great song. I think if I
scrounged through the old records, I probably have lots of those, and some of
them are 78's, but I have albums of Hank Williams, and others, that I have
kept all these years.

Yeah Sink the Bismark, and wasn't the 'battle of new orleans' his too?
I loved it.

I could talk old C&W tunes all day still have over 200 old L.P.s about 80% of them C &W. Other favourites of mine were Ray Price, Buck Owens, Kitty Wells, Bill Anderson (Mama sang a song, and 8 X 10), Ernest Tubb (Let's say goodbye like we said Hello)

Ray Price had a beautiful voice, could cross over and sing pop music as well.
I haven't enjoyed country and western for years, don't like the recent stuff,
and haven't like it for many years, just the old ones.
In fact I've stepped back from 'playing' music quite a bit.
I did go to see 'chilliwack' in victoria, as I really enjoy their style and sound.
I did play lots of their stuff a couple of years ago, took me a while to find them,
then I played it till I wore out the enjoyment.
Years ago I went to see, Hank Snow, Marty Robbins, Harry Belefonte, Neil
Diamond, Burton Cummings, (twice), and a few others that I have forgotton
at the moment.

Yep, the Johnny Come Latelies don't hold a candle to the old ones. I guess Alan Jackson is probably about the best of the new crowd, GArth Brooks of course has sold more records (C.D.)s than Elvis and the Beetles put together from what I hear, but if so methinks he's over rated. Do you remember Hank Thompson & the Brazos Valley Boys? Hank Thompson had a voice as good as Ray Price, I think- sung a lot of songs about beer. Then there was Fraulein by Bobby Helms, beautiful song.

I sure do remember Hank Thompson, and the Fraulein song as well, it was beautiful.
Little Jimmy Dickins, is another one, can't remember his songs by name, and
I also liked glen campbell, another later one, but he was different than the
run of the mill country singers.
And Merle Haggart was good too and Carl Perkins, who I think wrote blue suede shoes, and sang it, before Elvis.
