The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous. Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me. For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake.If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, I gain nothing

Hey Levanty,

I would like to invite you to read the complete story of Jesus Christ. The Bible only reveals a sliver of what really happened. Revelation was completed in the 20th century. Time to update your connection with God.

This is the real deal! Drink to the fountain of truth:

Check out papers, 122-196. They deal explicitly with the life of Jesus from his birth to his resurrection. And they include what happened to him between 12 and 30 years old, which we rarely hear about. Let me know what you think...

God loves you and Jesus died for you. You need to get right with God today.
I don't believe any of that, I have no belief in any deities, I believe the story of Jesus has been heavily fictionalized in the service of an agenda I have no use for, and god, in the extremely unlikely event that he exists at all and is responsible for the state of creation I see around me, needs to get right with me before I'll pay any attention to him. If this is the best he can do, he doesn't deserve unconditional respect and admiration, he needs a slap upside the head with a 2x4.

Isaiah 53 (written hundreds of years before crucifixion even existed.)

Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression[a] and judgment he was taken away.
Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was punished.[b]
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes[c] his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
11 After he has suffered,
he will see the light of life[d] and be satisfied[e];
by his knowledge[f] my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,[g]
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,[h]
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

You think that's about Jesus and the crucifixion, do you levanty? It's not, it nowhere mentions his name, or crucifixion, and in the earlier parts, 9:6 and 9:7 for instance, it's quite clearly referring to somebody who's not Jesus, but a political and military leader. It's fairly typical of apocalyptic literature, exhorting the community to keep the faith, all will be well, the oppressors (the Assyrian and Persian empires in this case) will be cast down, some leader will arise to save us, and so on. You can't read these things outside of their historical context if you want to make sense of them.

Let me know what you think...

I don't disagree that many books (commentaries on the bible) are profitable to help us understand the bible better.
However this book seeks to distract and/or dispute the cross, the ressurection and need for salvation altogether.
All I had to do was peruse the forward and the essential doctrines; i.e. Jesus' purpose and his divinity.
Why do you think He was crucified? Because He claimed to be God.
Thank you however, for trying to shed some (polite) light on the situation.
So far I've been battling it alone with the wolves all day. You were a true breath of fresh air. :)

In closing I must join another portion of scripture since my limited mind could never persuade anyone of anything.

Revelation 22:18-19

New International Version (NIV)

18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.

Let me see now. You take responsibility for all sins back to Adam and Eve. I sense a Jesus complex.

Problem answering that.Come now as you mentioned you have the power of God on your side.

Simple Question - What or who does Jesus makes the most reference to in the Bible?

I know, it's some person called Verily. Doesn't he always begin by saying, "Verily, Verily, I say unto you..."

ALL humans are slaves. You're either a slave to sin or you're a slave to Christ

Being a slave to sin is essentially like being a slave to yourself. Sin isn't animate. It isn't coercive. It doesn't ask anything of you and it won't punish you for not sinning. It's merely a category of actions, which one is free to do or not do. The choice to act is yours, so if you are a slave to it, your master is yourself. Or in other words, you're not a slave at all.

Did someone just void himself?
More like evacuate as in bowel movement.

You have a knack for self fulfilling prophesy. That was a lot of space dedicated to something a vacuous as that.
