I hear that Greece is pretty nice; and they have that highly successful program of broad-base socialism that you yearn for... Too bad it bankrupted the country, but at least you'll be able to sleep soundly in your cardboard box.

I'm pretty sure the results had more reasons to them then just an election being shoved down our throats...... but I imagine that was a main reason for some who voted.

Whatever!! I'm entitled to my opinion. The only thing I detest more than Harpo himself is our FPTP pluralty electoral system that allows for a majority govt with 39.5% of the votes and theoretically could give a significant majority with less than 30% of the vote.
Alberta is, oddly, the most multi-cultural province of the nation.
It has old-time Hutterite colonies living right next door to the Blood nation.
It benefited from RCMP style peace keeping. That's why it has not provincial police.
They have a knot-hole of Dutch-Reformers.
They were the ones where when Germany came in and asked for Jews, were super-happy to have an invader like that.
I worked with them for a year in southern Alberta, and I'm telling you these guys think it's a step close to the will of God to create Armageddon.

Here are a few predictions about the future under a Conservative majority:
We voted in favor of allowing the Conservative government to operate in secret. Canadians will never find out if we were complicit in torture in Afghanistan. Also we won't find out how much those airplanes will cost until after the Conservatives have signed the contract and commit Canada to paying a huge bill for a weapon system which will not protect Canadian soldiers from IEDs. The Conservatives will reform our electoral system in favor of large corporate donations and end the per vote political subsidies. We can also expect Canada to get involved in wars to seize control of resources for the benefit of large corporations. Those prisons will get built and they will be filled. Canada and Canadians won't be any safer.
Enjoy the party, because the morning after hangover will last about 4 years.

Americans are ditching those gallant-knight jets for drones and central command centers via satellite.
I heard on American Public Radio an air-force General saying how the F-22's (better than the F-35's... the F-35's they'll sell to other nations, but the F-22's they keep to themselves) were useless in Libya, and dumb-**** Canadians have not the balls to build drones with an easy technology at $4.5 million from Bombardier.
