They also can't ignore the message the players sent. There is something wrong with this league right now. The officiating and league office has never been worse.
well, i'll agree on the poor officiating, but on that note I just think the game has become so fast, that
they just can't be efficient enough, and maybe won't in the future either.
I actually agree that all penalties shouldn't be called, as there would be so many stoppages in the game
that there would be no flow.
As long as the ones let go are not resulting in goals or impeding players from scoring chances etc., and
maybe they do attempt to do that I don't know. I get very annoyed at all of the piddly little ones being
called, then in front of the net they almost kill each other, punching, holding, and lots of extra stuff,
as well as right after whistles, seems anything goes, especially if one penalty has been called, then
players take advantage of the lull and do other things to each other.
It seems the officials just can't keep track of all the crap in front and around the
net, but from time to time, they warn the benches that they will pick out 'one' player in those scrums, then the next time 'one' player, usually the other team,
so that does make them back off a bit, for a while.
The officiating in all of the playoffs is different, more interference let go, and
more physical 'stuff' let go.
There could have been messages sent by players all season, BUT the majority of players know to keep their
mouthes shut, and just live with it, but the coaches many times have been fined for their own outbursts.
All of that crap by the players wouldn't have happened at all, except they were still fuming because they
wanted the call on brown, and that didn't happen, then the goal was scored very quickly, they were
just over emotional, and that showed in rash statements.
The hit by brown was not kneeing, I watched it again tonight, as I explained before, he was skating with
legs wide apart, probably because he was turning toward the play right at the blue line, and he hit the
player, chest first, and if you watch his legs, he didn't do kneeing, and I'm glad the officials saw
that one correctly, but they had just made two poor calls against l.a., both on dowdy, who had a hissy
fit over both of them, but he was right, the replays showed that.
Doan obviously feels stupid now after the fact, and is making that clear on tv.
