I'm not confident with my pool.

I'm 15 points up but I only have Kovalchuk and Parise. My nearest rival has Kovalchuk. Henrique, Doughty and Brodeur. Brodeur gets a point if he wins. 3 points for a shut out.

Marten Brodeur the Devil's 3rd defenceman with 6 points in the play-offs.........rock on old guy. I'd say that with 2 OT goals in the series with NY.........it's too bad you didn't get Henrique in your pool too, Kreskin but Parise is a safe bet and same can be said for Kovalchuk as we saw tonight.

The players were listed in 21 groups of 5 players, and within each group you could pick one. His group was as follows. I had Briere.

Forwards #11 (pick 1)
__ Briere, D (PHI) : 0.73
__ Doan, S (PHO) : 0.65
__ Franzen, J (DET) : 0.74
__ Henrique, A (NJ) : 0.70
__ Johansson, M (WAS) : 0.58

OK all you crazy for the playoff fans, are you ready?

NHL playoffs, what everyone waits for right? well, where are you.

Now that the 'mean nothing' regular season is over, (according to some),and playoffs have been
on for some time, this thread is getting dust on it.

NEW JERSEY vs LOS ANGELOS , first game of the NHL STANLEY CUP FINALS.

I'm ready.

I like both teams, but the west is the west, and l.a. is our team, GO L.A. GO

As much as I like New Jersey, I still see L.A. as the stronger team after the dust settles,

just hope the series is close and exciting.

I think it will be exciting, for sure.

I'm thinking that it will be Brodeur's ending grace; if he's smart, he'll go out while he's on top of his game.

apparantly he mentioned just the other day, that he is thinking of returning next season, but of course
that might change if things don't go well from here on in.
He started this season poorly, and slowly improved throughout the season, and played very well in the
playoffs.
So right now he is feeling good about himself.

first half of the game was very one sided, all l.a., seemed like the whole series would be very

boring, BUT then jersey ramped up their game, suddenly woke up, 'game on', good from that point

on, went into overtime, then l.a. won it with a beautiful goal from kopitar, the one player on the

ice who could drive it home, very patient with the puck, so l.a. walks away wining the game 2-1

a 1-0 series lead.

Couldn't believe how much I missed hockey while waiting for the Cup finals to start, talloola  Away house-sitting again so can only check in from time to time. Very disappointed in Jersey's loss last night. You are so right about LA coming out strong. No advantage on home-ice for the Devils last night. Ah well, it's only game 1 and hopefully a few more to go.

GO, JERSEY, GO!

Joisy??????????????????? The East won the cup last year, besides Joisy already has a couple under their belt. Go L.A. Go (It's a feather in the Canucks cap to be knocked out two years in a row by the Cup winners) No other team could have done it!!

I think both teams will play better next game, as even l.a. wasn't at their best, and jersey looked just awful
for half the game, seemed so nervous couldn't even catch a pass.

In game 2, they both should be better, which in my opinion still keeps l.a. stronger, but doesn't mean they
will win the game, as last night jersey actually had two of the better chances to end the game before l.a.
did end it, so being better and winning don't always go together, but jersey's first goal was flukey as it
bounced off of the l.a. players chest and into the net, but they all count, and once they are on the score
sheet, they are all worth the same.

yes, lets bring the cup back to the west.

I heard that the TV ratings for a final series are way down in the US. The first game of Boston-Vancouver got 8.5 million US viewers while this series got 2.5. Too bad the Rangers didn't get in. It would've caught a lot more interest.

I'm struggling to get excited over the games. I generally have the TV on and watch bits and pieces but it hasn't retained my attention for too long.

yes, tv ratings are way down, but that is because new jersey gets no respect, BUT i'm glad it is them and
not the rangers, for the same reason everyone else wanted them, for me its all about the game and not
about ratings and cities, new jersey earned this position.

the media are all whining because they wanted the BIG show, l.a. and the big apple.
the media are broken hearted because they can't do 'their' thing in two of the most popular
cities in the u.s., I couldn't care less about the media, they are only in it for themselves,
not the game.

I don't watch 'all' of each game either, but if i'm not watching it, i'm listening while I do other
things, or on the
car radio and its good hockey, much better than l.a./rangers, would have been, as in my opinion l.a. would have
swept them, they are not good enough for either one of the finalists.
If l.a. sweep the devils, at least we will have seen good games, as jersey could have come out
the winners in either game, even though l.a. is a bit deeper, and bigger, but both have great
goaltending, and marty is like the marty of old, he's doing great, even though he had a poor start
this season, but he gradually put it all together toward the latter part of the season, and is playing
great right now.
Rangers play to stop the other team from winning, but their not good enough to go for it, for themselves,
and make a better game.

Not just the media wanting the big apple, apparently most of the potential viewers who are now watching reruns of Baywatch.

yeah, thats right, but the bottom line is the players on the teams, they are the important people in
this hockey final, not the onlookers who want more hype, or the media who want 'attention', and the big
story, 'the players', who worked their guts out to get there, and deserve to glow in the spotlight,
by whomever is watching.

This scenario shows 'who' are actually true hockey fans and hockey lovers, and 'who' are really interested
to see it to the end, and it doesn't matter where it is, compared to the bandwagon jumperoners, and the
ones who only want their own team, and the big story followers.

I'm not criticizing any of them, but that is the way it is, and it doesn't matter, and because they don't
make as much money from tv ratings, doesn't matter either, it won't change anything. Next year it could
be the islanders and minnesota, and the same will apply, moans and groans by many, and true followers by
many, not as much money made, but no one can change that, it is what it is.

Are you saying you're not a true hockey fan because you mostly listen to it in the background and aren't glued to watching players achieve their dream?
