well I am glad its over, now I can settle down and wait for the finals, at least in the west.

still have to find a way to get rangers out of the playoffs, I'll think of something. lol

Believe, talloola! LOL! The Devils have found a way through Lundy.............all they have to do now is keep getting pucks to the net and continuing their high-energy play. Stay out of the penalty box and keep winning the battle along the boards. GO, JERSEY, GO!

this game tonight was back and forth all night, but I do think l.a. at the end was the stronger
I thought it was one of the better games of this series, from the Phoenix point of view, right up until the OT goal, that is. :-( When the Coyotes failed to capitalize on the 5 on 3, then drew a penalty of their own and still weren't able to get past Quick 4 on 3, I could hear the bell tolling.

it was smith who did everything for them, but as time went on the rest of the team began to 'get it', and became playoff tough.
Though disappointed for the team, I really felt for Mike Smith..............he kept the Yotes in this right into OT...........what a wonderful goalie he has become.

yes, thats right, they had to make something happen when they had penalties, especially the 5-3, then
again when dowdy was penalized right near the end of the game.

I was very dissapointed in the interviews with doan, smith and the other guy, forget his name, I know
they were dissapointed, but the comments they made were insane.

but I was happy with tippet, he saw things as they were, and didn't sway from that, good for him.

in regards to the kneeing non call, high sticking penalties are called regardless of intent.

yeah, you're right, and maybe they didn't see it as actually kneeing at all, so in their minds intent
didn't come into the decision. I listened to ray ferraro's opinion this morning, and he didn't see
it as kneeing either, but body checking, and he said as he approached the crowd that was all gathering
on the blue line he was skating with his legs far apart, but not preparing to knee anyone, and he did
bodycheck the player, in that same stride, BUT he didn't stick his knee out as he approached the player,
like the one in the other game. Like elbowing, which is sticking your elbow out to purposely hit the
player in the head.

The first time I saw it I thought it was kneeing too, but the second time, I didn't.

But there will remain some controversy about the incident, as some see it differently than others, and certain fans will never see it any other way but
how they 'want' to see it, that is typical of emotional fans of a team, boy
i've seen that for many many years in vancouver.

I only caught Doan on SportsCentre - man was he over-the-top! Really made me think of sour grapes - nothing he said is going to change anything especially the fact that LA is going to the Cup. How they got there is now long in the past.

Well you will be tickled to know that Don Cherry agrees with all of you - non-call. LOL!

5 to 3 for the Devil's.

I'm still amazed that Jersey pulled this one off, talloola. When they came out and got the two early goals and followed those with another - I was beside myself for an entire period. I kept wondering where the team went in the 2nd and for a good part of the 3rd. My believing began to waver a tad...............then out of the blue they got the go-ahead goal and Parise - once again iced the cake. Really glad for the win but they won't win many games like this against the Kings so they really need to be more consistent. Meanwhile, I'm singing the Thin Red Line in honor of Jersey's 4th line - once again the stars on the ice.

WAY TO GO JERSEY!

Was it Hanzal who said that the Coyotes don't have an owner who can stick up for them. I completely agree. It started with The Torres 25-game suspension. What a freakin joke that was. The league office can do or not do anything with Phoenix it wants without fear that an owner might lobby to throw them all out of their jobs.

The fact that players are frustated like this is quite a statement. I'm glad they spoke up. The Coyote players deserve more respect from the league than the shaft they've received.

I heard something of this on the Team 1040 today but did not catch all of it. I read elsewhere that cliques amongst the owners also play their part in the management of a team. I really feel for the Coyotes - just after they finally won a game - tickets for their home game could be had for $45. That is compared to tickets for a comparable play-off game for the Canucks last year where tickets prices were around $250. Be nice to see them move to Saskatoon - they will be appreciated there.

If anyone thinks for one minute that the officials were making calls to favour either one team or the other,
that is the joke. They can't even keep up with the games any more, let alone have to figure out how to
favour one over the other.

If anything, the NHL would favour phoenix, as they own them, 'they' are the owners, so why would they
want to shaft them, doesn't make any sense at all.
There is also a new owner right on the horizon, so another reason to see them do well, not a reason to do them in.

i'm glad torres didn't win his appeal, his long rap sheet is why he got the 25 games, that is so easy to
see, and shanahan explained it as much, its not brain surgery, just his own fault because he is too
stupid to 'think' and play hockey at the same time.

Don't forget, hossa is still not doing well, but guess that doesn't matter. Its the guys head, and
the way torres treats his fellow players, one would think he had been hit 10 too many times.

unless something has changed very recently, there is a fellow who wants to buy the phoenix team, and he
wants them to stay where they are.
the price of their tickets isn't any different than the florida tickets, or any other south u.s. team that
doesn't draw enough people, thats just the way it goes, if anyone should complain its the canadian
based teams who get shafted because they have to pay so dearly to see a game, but then the do-well teams
have to subsidize the not so do well teams, consequently we pay very high prices to cover the teams
bettman decided were good choices, and weren't.

I disagree with you Talloola and so do the Coyote players. It is not insignificant that players are saying things like they have. In fact it's very significant.

it is sour grapes, it is in the height of the moment, it is the dissapointment, it is seeing only what
they want to see.
isn't it funny how no one is seeing the bad calls against l.a., very funny.

and if l.a. had of lost this playoff series, they probably would have been whining too.

when the dust settles, and doan and his friends sit and think about those stupid remarks they made,
they will be embarrassed and feel very stupid.

The Torres suspension is the most outrageous in NHL history. Pure nonsense. Then you add in the mix of all the bs in the LA series AND the league's conflict of interest. The league might own the Coyotes but there is way more money for them to be made in LA. So who comes to the defense of Phoenix? No one. Bettman would lose hios job if a real owner had to put up with what they did.

Sour grapes.. no, speaking the truth. They might regret it but it had to be said.

sorry kreskin, but we have to agree to 'totally' disagree concerning torres and now the doan and friends thing, and also any so-called cheating by the league.
L.A. is a much better team than phoenix, that showed very clearly during the first
three games, and its pretty common for a team that has their backs to the wall
to put on a push, was that is all is was, a push, they weren't going to win 4
games straight, they aren't good enough.
actually doan is allready backpeddling and agreeing that he should have been more gracious.
Their
behavior was very childish, even though they were full of emotion, still childish.
They will probably be fined, just like everyone else who has badmouthed the
officials all season, lots of money in that pot now.
There hasn't been a confirmed decision on the fine, (or if there will be one),
we will hear soon.
They can't really ignore their outburst, as others who have trashed officiating
all year have opened their wallets and paid up, so not sure why they won't have
to.
Good thing I don't get fined for trashing the officials, they have been horrible
all year, a book could be written on their bush league decisions, but to think
they have the intelligence to figure out how to cheat while they can't even seem
to see whats going on much of the time, is ludicrous.
There are far too many people who would have to be involved in the league cheating,
far too risky, and no need to do it anyway, and their didn't have to create any
cheating, l.a. would have won the series, if not in that game then either the
next or the next, they just had to wait for that to happen, a much cleaner and
neater method than cheating, just let it play out, l.a. would have won.

They also can't ignore the message the players sent. There is something wrong with this league right now. The officiating and league office has never been worse.

My biggest dissappointment with LA scoring in OT was Doan didn't get a chance to get out again. He was in the mood to put someone in the hospital.

well, i'll agree on the poor officiating, but on that note I just think the game has become so fast, that
they just can't be efficient enough, and maybe won't in the future either.
I actually agree that all penalties shouldn't be called, as there would be so many stoppages in the game
that there would be no flow.
As long as the ones let go are not resulting in goals or impeding players from scoring chances etc., and
maybe they do attempt to do that I don't know. I get very annoyed at all of the piddly little ones being
called, then in front of the net they almost kill each other, punching, holding, and lots of extra stuff,
as well as right after whistles, seems anything goes, especially if one penalty has been called, then
players take advantage of the lull and do other things to each other.
It seems the officials just can't keep track of all the crap in front and around the
net, but from time to time, they warn the benches that they will pick out 'one' player in those scrums, then the next time 'one' player, usually the other team,
so that does make them back off a bit, for a while.
The officiating in all of the playoffs is different, more interference let go, and
more physical 'stuff' let go.

There could have been messages sent by players all season, BUT the majority of players know to keep their
mouthes shut, and just live with it, but the coaches many times have been fined for their own outbursts.

All of that crap by the players wouldn't have happened at all, except they were still fuming because they
wanted the call on brown, and that didn't happen, then the goal was scored very quickly, they were
just over emotional, and that showed in rash statements.

The hit by brown was not kneeing, I watched it again tonight, as I explained before, he was skating with
legs wide apart, probably because he was turning toward the play right at the blue line, and he hit the
player, chest first, and if you watch his legs, he didn't do kneeing, and I'm glad the officials saw
that one correctly, but they had just made two poor calls against l.a., both on dowdy, who had a hissy
fit over both of them, but he was right, the replays showed that.

Doan obviously feels stupid now after the fact, and is making that clear on tv.

ROCK ON NEW JERSEY - OFF THE FINALS - WAY TO GO!

In OT, Adam Henrique hangs tough at the net and scores the winning goal. How sweet it is! Congratulations Peter DeBoer and the entire New Jersey team - well done.

How sweet it is ---------- now we don't have to hear constantly about messier, l994, blah blah blah

new jersey are the more talented team, very good defense, and brodeur, what can I say.

I think l.a. would have swept rangers, now we should have a good series, I still think l.a. will

win, but it should be more interesting than it would have been with rangers in it.

I'm stickin' with Joisy, talloola..........these guys battle so hard. They may falter but they don't give up.

Just think, we won't have to listen to Torts any longer - that's a plus right there!

I agree that LA would have eliminated NY in short order.

GO, JERSEY, GO!
