Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final will get underway tonight as the Pittsburgh Penguins get set to take on the Nashville Predators in their quest for a 3rd win in the team's history. Rumors are swirling that we might have Hornquist back in the line-up. I expect another hard-fought battle as the Preds are known for their outstanding defense.

I won't be reporting on the game until the end of the period at which time, I will give a synopsis of the game so far.

Pk Subban opens up the scoring at 12:47 in the first...........
Mike is challenging that the play was offside.........big challenge this early in the game for Mike...
Whoa..........the decision is that the play was offside - no goal......that's a blow to the Preds
5 on 3 after a non-penalty.........the Preds just got called for a non-hit then were penalized again for the one that did

The refs really need to get their shit together.....there is stuff going on out there - on both sides of the ice - that should be called

This was a game that my Pens really had no right winning........they were vastly outplayed and out-shot by Nashville, yet somehow they came through with a 5 - 3 win late in the 3rd. They had 5 goals on only 11 shots tonight. 37 minutes without a single SOG. Jake Guentzal got us the 4th goal of the game and Bonino got his second with the empty-netter.
PK Subban had himself a great game tonight - heck all of the Preds did.

So the key to beating Pekka is to hit him high on the short side and chances are better than even that the puck will find the back of the net...........think I'll email the Pens and get them working on that.
I listened to several sportscaster arguing about this on Sportsnet and Tim and Sid yesterday. Sid was furious about it, saying that there is no way even a video review could conclusively show that the player was off-side and he too believes the rule should be scrapped. Unfortunately that little prick Bettman who believes the sun shines out of his ass, thinks the rule is just dandy and has no intention of changing it.
What upsets many of us who disagree with video review is that it could decide a championship and that is unacceptable. I don't care that the call would have meant a good goal for the Preds - a very important first goal of the game - you win fair and square or you go home. Video review is bullshit.
