Maybe what we ought to do is lobby the gvt and get Kennedy on board to rename the immigration dept entirely. Perhaps we could just cut-out all of those other pesky refugees from other nations and rename the dept the Czech Immigration and Relocation Service.

Right on,

Wish we could have this in this country. Or just enforcement. Is this a win for the conservatives or liberals, guess it could have been sponsored either way. No? Correct me please!

peace out:fish:

The problem you have is that there is always the opportunity for a humanitarian/charitable program to be abused if that system allows for such. That is basically what's happening here.

Read an interesting comment from a Czech gvt official this morning. The comment admonished the Cdn gvt for requiring visas from Czech visitors and suggested that if a Czech citizen felt persecuted in their own nation, they would easily be able to relocate somewhere within the EU.

Fair enough, but the big question is; Why are they travelling to Canada and claiming refugee status?... There must be a reason to come to Canada and not stay in the Czech-friendly EU.

There is. Canada pays out the most generous refugee benefits on the planet.

If they're up to no good, it is much easier to revoke a visa and expel than it is to deport someone who is just here for the ride. Visa requirements aren't new.

Yes it is, BUREAUCRATICALLY speaking. If they are criminals, I'm sure there's lot of old leaky boats around that we could load up with these fellas, shove them off and to hell with the bureaucracy.

By the way, if Czechs (really it's the Romani the Tories are shirt-knotted about) and Mexicans are personae non gratae, what ethnic mix do we think is quintessentially Canadian?

What are the refugee benefits of which you speak? May I ask you? The USa just gives welfare benefits I believe, possibly not. Money if kids are involved food if not. I may have to look ours up!!! lol!!

We've filled our prison system with 75% of them. We don't deport them, only the gov in the USa knows why. Can we buy a few leaky boats off you?
