I feel just as strongly that war is BS. There is no honour or glory in dying so the rich can get richer. That whole German crap is nonsense. There was never a possibility that he could have ruled the world. The bankers financed both sides. My father went over there and came back a broken human being. Amusing that you think Germany had the capability to invade and conquer North America in 1914-ish. Or that World War I had much to do with North America at all.
There were COs in World War I. And there have always been plenty of cowards, or just people too stupid to recognize an existential threat to the U.S. and Canada, and too lazy, self-centered, undisciplined, and cowardly to step up and do something about it. I'm sure you realize this from your own military experience.
