Or it could be too many people remember how well Thalidomide and a few other wonder drugs turned out.

You should go peddle your silly religious nonsense somewhere else....or here's an idea...what don't you provide some verifiable scientific evidence that remotely suggests your magic beans actually work.

Anecdotal experience is not a good argument.
...but it's the only argument they have. It's not fair to take it away from them.

Neither is the school system.
I'd gamble on the school system right now knowing some of the parents in my current school and their life skills, it's a wonder the kids are still alive. Many parts of the system still work adequately enough that we are still a first world country and it benefits the majority.

I almost died at age 5 from polio vaccine. I have a natural aversion to being poisoned.
understandable then that you might be anti-vaccine for some, but all Cliffy...you want to just apply that to everyone and take it all away?

I am sorry you almost died at age five from the vaccine, that sucks Cliffy. If we had been further advanced at that time and if the majority of people around you were immunized perhaps it would not have been so horrendously bad I don't know.

Two people in my building almost died of polio both walk with a limp one uses a leg brace frequently, She knows a wheelchair is in her future.

I don't know what the best answer is but measles is a horrible way to die.

Lots of people have natural aversions to death and paralyzation due to infection as well.

Despite what we may think, this is not the age of freely broadcast facts.

The more people decide to avoid vaccinating their children, the greater the chance those kids will be banned from school.

As far as I understand it, that is not on the table right now, but give this problem a few years to grow and we will see that idea become more prevalent.

Banned from school! I wish that had happened to me, it's where I caught WSD (Western Superiority Disease).

Chapter 6

The Great Demonstration
Decorous and admissible language fails me, in alluding to that which might have seemed incredible thirty years ago—the commanding of vaccination on a second child of a family, when vaccination has killed the first; and then sending the father to prison for refusal.
– Emeritus Professor F. W. Newman (1805–1897), October 26, 1874

Those who would give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

– Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790)
Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.

– Martin Luther King Jr. (1929–1968)Chapter 6 | Dissolving Illusions

Chapter 10

The Health Revolution
Slovenliness is no part of religion. Cleanliness is indeed next to Godliness.
– John Wesley (1703–1791)

May we be and beseech your proteckshion and power. We are Sur, as it may be, livin in Wilderness, so far as the rest of London knows any-thing of us, or as the rich and great people care about. We live in muck and filth. We aint got no priviz, no dust bins, no drains, no water-splies, and no drain or suer in the hole place. The Suer Company, in Greek St. Soho Square, all great rich powerfool men take no notice watsomdever of our complaints. The Stenche of Gulley-hole is disgustin. We all of us suffer, and the number are ill, and if the Cholera comes Lord help us.

– A letter in The Times, 1849
It is not strange that health improves when the population gives up using diluted sewage as the principle beverage.

– Dr. Thurman Rice, 1932

By the mid-1800s, slums had become commonplace settlements in the Western world. New York City had 100,000 slum dwellers living in 20,000 tenement buildings. They were a crowded and vile predic-ament. Throughout these unsanitary slums, death was ever present. Cholera, typhoid, scarlet fever, smallpox, typhus, and other infectious diseases were never idle.

But during this time, the seeds of change were sowed and slowly took root. It was the beginning of the Sanitation Revolution. A new understanding that filth contributed to human illness had come to light. It was also known that poverty was often a result of such illness and not just the cause. Based on this awareness, projects for the supply of clean water and removal of human and other waste gradually began to be implemented.

Chapter 1

The Not So Good Ol’ Days.
As we passed along the reeking banks of the sewer the sun shone upon a narrow slip of the water. In the bright light it appeared the colour of strong green tea, and positively looked as solid as black marble in the shadow—indeed it was more like watery mud than muddy water; and yet we were assured this was the only water the wretched inhabitants had to drink. As we gazed in horror at it, we saw drains and sewers emptying their filthy contents into it; we saw a whole tier of doorless privies in the open road, common to men and women, built over it; we heard bucket after bucket of filth splash into it . . . – Henry Mayhew (1812-1887), September 24, 1849

Passing along a rough bank, among stakes and washing lines, one penetrates into this chaos of small one-storied, one-roomed huts, in most of which there is no artificial floor; kitchen, living, and sleeping-room all in one . . . Everywhere before the doors residue and offal [waste]; that any sort of pavement lay underneath could not be seen but only felt, here and there, with the feet.
– Friedrich Engels (1820-1895), 1844

Many of us have a picture of the 1800s colored by a myriad of filters that impart a nostalgic and romantic view of that era. You may picture a time when gentleman callers arrived to meet a well-dressed lady in a finely furnished parlor. A time where people leisurely drifted down a river on a paddlewheel riverboat while sip-ping mint juleps. A time of more elegant travel aboard a steam train passing through the beautiful countryside, or a stylish woman dressed in a long, flowing gown, descending from a sleek horse-drawn carriage with the aid of a dapper companion in a top hat. You may think of those times where life was simple and ordered—a seeming utopia, free of the many woes that plague modern society.

(DB) Many times and places in the old days made vaccinations mandatory with prison sentences for refusal. That will happen again as control of the populations demands it.

Go ahead and find just one person who is proven to have been saved by vaccination.

Logic from reason would indicate that the drive for mandatory vaccination raged by the media presstitutes at this time in the twenty-first century indicates that mass poverty will become the norm again. Cast your minds upon the constant messages of over population and the great fear the lids have in becoming lost in that crowd.

Funny how this resurgence began when they started pumping measles vaccine into kids.

No it didn't. This "resurgence" is very recent, they've been "pumping measles vaccines into kids" since I was in school, and I'm 46. I have the MMR.

It's resurfaced now because so many are now refusing to vaccinate and it leave big gaping holes in the safety net of herd immunity.

Few medical myths have been debunked as thoroughly as this one.

Fourteen scientific studies have failed to find a link between autism and vaccines, says Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The myth was fueled by a small, flawed study in The Lancet in 1998, which was later retracted. British medical authorities in 2010 found the author guilty of serious misconduct related to the study — including accepting more than $675,000 from a lawyer hoping to sue vaccine makers — and banned him from practicing medicine in England.

Vaccines: Facts vs. myths

In the early months of 1991, the nation was preoccupied with the Persian Gulf War, as the United States chased Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein from his dream of annexing Kuwait.

In Philadelphia, health and school officials were locked in battle too - against a major measles outbreak, and the deep religious convictions which fueled the spread of the virus.

Nine children would die, six of them associated with two fundamentalist churches which preach a reliance on prayer, not medical care, to cure disease.

Guess you never met anyone that was affected by Thalidomide have you. Come out here summer of 2016 and I will introduce you to a woman that was cured of breast cancer without knives or poisons. You are allowed to travel unattended aren't you?

Don't be so silly. Your anecdotes don't qualify as scientific evidence. Not only have you failed yet again, you've insulted all homeopaths that at least try and explain their silly religion in a scientific way. You should go pray to the herb gawd and ask for its forgiveness.

Major Autism Research Group Says Vaccinate Your Children

Autism Speaks, the national advocacy group that raises awareness and funds for research and treatment of autism, released a statement in support of vaccinating children against measles.

“Over the last two decades, extensive research has asked whether there is any link between childhood vaccinations and autism,” said Rob Ring, Chief Science Officer of Autism Speaks. “The results of this research are clear: Vaccines do not cause autism. We urge that all children be fully vaccinated.”

The group made the statement in efforts to end the vaccination debate stemming from the recent measles outbreak that began earlier this year at Disneyland in California. The number of people infected to date has reached 104 in 14 states due, in part, to people who refuse to vaccinate their children.

California officials announced their intentions to introduce legislation to require vaccinations.

The Autism Speaks statement is a milestone in a debate caused by a 1998 report in a British medical journal claiming that the MMR vaccine leads to autism. The journal later found the report to be false and retracted its findings, and the physician who wrote the article, Andrew Wakefield, was stripped of his medical license.

So, why exactly are you all so bent out of shape with the "antivaxers"? How does it effect you and yours?

What's the relation of thalidomide to say the MMR vaccine? Besides being a red herring?

Check out this compliation of injuries from essential oils:

Something tells me if I tried to use this as evidence that say, the other types of treatments your wife might advise are in fact ill advised, that you might have a problem with that loose association.

I'll have to research this more, but you & I are of a similiar age, and
might have to look into this further. For a stretch in the '70's they
tried using a 1/2 dose of the vaccine compared to what they where
using before and after that stretch. We may both need booster
shots for this disease.

If you were not such an idiot you would know there is a huge difference between Naturopaths and homeopaths. Like a degree for starters.

Welp, aside for me actually caring about the wellbeing of others (call it my Christian instinct), there is also a small chance that people with the vaccine can still contract the disease. Oh, and let's not leave out those that actually want to take the vaccine, but are allergic. Of course those people should just be collateral damage for all those 'considerate' anti-vaxxing fools out there.
